It seems we have been given false information with regard control of our system. I find I do not have control of my system, each time I enter charge / discharge times within a mater of minutes the times I am entering change to times that make no sense at all. I have seen from my Octopus App that my grid consumption has noticeably increased since GivEnergy software stopped us being able to fully control our systems even on a local basis.
I am not going to move to a paid App as I see no reason why I should, GivEnergy software should have set up the unpaid app to allow full local operation of our systems this they clearly have not done, we have been locked out of many functions we should have access to locally let’s face facts there are many solar systems that are totally independent stand alone systems.
On my system they have kept control of my system & as far as I can see there is no method of me getting control back from them unless I pay their monthly ransom or pay another Company I have no wish to be part of.
I want full control of my system GivEnergy….

Brian. I think you are preaching to the converted, but I don't think your concerns will make any difference.
What's done is done.

Brian-S Are you able to access the activity log on the remote control page on the web portal? (I'm not sure if that's a premium feature or not.) If you can, can you see a record of your changes and the unwanted changes?
Prior to the changes, did you have smart tariff support enabled on the web portal, or any other external agent operating?

we have been locked out of many functions we should have access to locally

I've not noticed any local functionality that's missing from the app..?

Their shady small print allowed them to revoke access. And they emailed what was needed of your own kit to avoid paying but it was ridiculously long, unhelpful and if there's documentation I have no idea where. It isn't in their downloads.

The new official app is much worse than the old one.

Unofficial apps are loads better. Honestly we just have ECO mode on our AIO and have the battery charge at 00:05-04:00 but in summer we set it to only charge of battery is below 50%. So it is a twice a year change. I just use the Andrew Miller one for a one-off fee and it has been fine throughout all the Givenergy shenanigans. And low stress, and help responses here on the forum.
