I can not even view my app when away from home
i do not have no control over the app
i used to be able to plug in my car to charge it, but now it drains my batteries first before it charges from my wall charger.
They will not answer my emails.
Is there any way way i can get rid of them for another supplier.
I think it's absolutely disgusting Giv-Energy doing what they have done.
Maz I’m not sure it was deliberate, very few businesses go bust on purpose
You can move to another supplier easier but it means buying new kit.
Maz If it's a GivEnergy car charger you should be getting the premium subscription for free.
There are ways to achieve what you want - it's either paying or standing up your own infrastructure (Home Assistant etc).
The reality is that I'm not paying, I'm not discharging my battery with my charger and I'm able to control my system away from home - but that's then relying on my own machine and a separate subscription to home assistant's cloud service.
You are - of course - welcome to move to a new supplier - go find an installer and get a quote.
The raw situation is - the hardware company has gone bust, all the warranties are useless and, in some ways, we're (including those who aren't paying) lucky the cloud servers are still functional at the moment to even do the basics. The fact there's even 3 people trying to keep that bit running is fortunate.
It's not a good situation, and all of us who invested in the ecosystem have been left hanging either with paying a subscription, rolling our own control or paying again to rip and replace.
Did you read the emails they sent you? Have you looked at any of the other threads on the forum?
I subscribed to premium and find the app to be virtually the same as the previous GE one. I can charge the EV without using any battery, by applying "do not use the battery " section in the settings. The EVC uses the cloud on my setup. When I go to local use, I loose the ability to charge the car. If I use the car settings to charge, it uses the battery and the grid half and half.
I have little tech knowledge so I have to use basic setups.
Dunno where to even start with this one...
arthurma this is where I'm at too, looking like I'm going to subscribe to get EV charger functionality back and stop it draining my batteries
I've signed up with Axle. Had 2 export events already making about £6, + premium access to GE included. No-brainer for me really.
