We have a buyer for our house and am wondering how we can transfer the GivEnergy account to the new owner when they move in.
Is it just a case of changing my email address to theirs on the account portal, or is there any other commissioning to be done? Obviously concerned due to no support from GivEnergy anymore.
Change of ownership when moving, with no GivEnergy support?
SharonHoneyman I asked the GivEnergy Software team about this. This is their response.
"Thank you for your feedback.
We're aware that this is something that was previously handled by the support team, and with them no longer being available you are right and we should build out a way to do this self-service in the software. We'll work on this in a future update.
In the meantime, we can suggest that you work with your buyer to simply update the details in your account settings to theirs (that is, change the name and contact details). You can then change your password to something temporary, and provide them with the password. They would then be able to log in, and change the password so you wouldn't be able to access it.
While this is not a very elegant solution, it should solve your problem in the short term.
Hope that helps,
GivEnergy Software "
NormC hmm, what about the MFA code that gets emailed to you on login attempt.
The email address will need to be changed to sort that!
Obviously changing the email address is a sensible thing anyway!

TX200 Surely you just disable 2FA before you start the other handover steps.
Maxwell assuming they developed something that does that, yes.

TX200 You mean this

I haven't enabled 2FA. This is what I see on the Account Security Settings page.

My Manage Login page looks like this.

So hopefully by changing the First Name, Last Name, Telephone and Email fields to the new owner it will all be okay. The new owner can then change the Nickname if he wants.

So this does work. Only issue is if you used your email address as your username you can not change your username..... but changing login does work

NormC I’m not sure whether with the current software model you can still enable 2FA. Or is it now only premium customers ? Does anyone know ?
Whatever success you have with changing the login details etc. on the GE app/web-site, I'd provide the buyers with links to @Rubikcube 's Android and Richard Russell's BBC Basic programs.
Not mentioned in the TA6 and TA10 forms that we're filling in for MIL's house sale, but it seems to be the right thing to do.

Maxwell I can not see 2FA options on my account, I am premium.

THALL Mm, I thought 2FA became an option when they moved over to SSO. So are they no longer supporting that ? That would seem a backward security step. And that then questions what other backend security measures are no longer in use ?

Maxwell I am emailed a code to sign in so MFA. But no option to change/disable it or add a new method. On the screen shots above my account does not show the Two-Factor section.
THALL I was wondering if the new customer would need to create an SSO account, then swap the legacy account over to the new SSO account.
Cuz all SSO does really is link one identity to one or many legacy giv logins/environments.
But wether that has actually been written, who knows.
Maxwell Mm, I thought 2FA became an option when they moved over to SSO.
It was always an option, however the 2FA controls on the portal didn't have anything to do with SSO.
