Does the software now support agile octopus? I found this problematic and raised an issue. The issue is no longer showing. Has anyone implemented agile automation? My solution was to use myeo , which is working great but costs me 5 pounds a month in addition to GivEnergysubscription.

daveocllan57 I think Axle offer a full battery management service - not sure how well they support Agile. They cover Premium subscription, but have to earn money for themselves from using your battery, so would be interesting to see how they balance things. I haven't heard any feedback.

Given Octopus exclude Agile from charge pack (and other) options I think its unlikely Agile is supported. Octopus state (via email) that Agile rate changes every 30 minutes mean its "impractical" to offer "deals" available to EV/heat pump owners.

Make of that what you will, personally I think its nonsense but that's what they claim.

Ah... from the Axle FAQ:

Is this compatible with smart tariffs?

Yes! Axle works great with smart tariffs like Octopus Agile, Octopus Flux, and others. Our optimiser takes your tariff into account to maximise bill savings and grid earnings, ensuring you get the best of both worlds.

but

What’s the difference between Event Only and Fully Optimised mode?

Event Only gives you control over daily operations while participating in grid events. Fully Optimised (currently unavailable) has Axle manage everything for maximum efficiency.

Not sure if this helps.

I have Octopus Agile with 3kw Inverter and 9.5k battery, subscribe to Axle Energy so get free premium service from Give Energy. I also have solar pv.

WHILST I have the free Inverter app for managing the Inverter and battery locally (In case Giv Energy software team fold) I make use of the Octopus Labs free app, I had to connect this to my giv Energy battery via API, the app tells you how to do that.

It was set up a couple of years ago and it is very easy to set the Octopus Labs app to charge my battery using either a number of (the cheapest) 30min slots per day or to set to charge when a 30min slot is less than a certain pence to kW.

I find this works for me BUT you need the giv Energy premium service to allow Octopus Labs app access to battery API.

I know there are other systems like Give TCP and HA that can probably control a battery more efficiently, but Octopus Labs app works fine for me.

Best of luck

JOHN_ELEY hi John,

Thanks for the info. I am subscribed to giv energy and also subscribe to myeo which works great but at a cost. I will look for the octopus labs app and perhaps trial .
