How to stop battery discharge during IOG schedules

I've been using successfully Wonderwatt up to now to control my system of solar, 9.5 kw battery and Gen1 ac coupled inverter.
Rather than pay 2 subscriptions, I'm now subscribed to premium GivEnergy app via Axle account and also trying out the Giv-local app and the android inverter app which all basically work but not to the degree of sophistication of the intuitive Wonderwatt system.
Biggest problem is whenever Octopus add extra charge slots outwith the standard overnight off peak period the home battery also immediately starts to discharge to the car!
I can stop this by pausing the battery on the different apps but I don't want to be getting up at 5.30am to do this as very often Octopus will continue to offer slots whilst plugged in. Octopus are now encouraging Intelligent Go customers to plug in throughout the day as they react to flexible market conditions.
So are there any options in the available apps which can counter battery discharge to the car or do I just set a rigid charging period in the Octopus app of 11.30 - 05.30 and miss out on cheap extra daytime slots from Octopus?

SimonClarke I have had a search through the forum but found nothing really recent with reference to the GivEnergy changes in subscription and the introduction of the new alternative management apps.
I'm trying to see if anyone has successfully managed this discharge issue using either the new GivEnergy app or alternatives.
I'm just looking for a user friendly system that correctly runs in the background where i don't wake up at 7am and find that half the home battery has discharged to the car.

IJHHH the most straightforward fix is a minor change to the wiring so that the GE system cannot see the charger. Perhaps not if you have a GE charger?

Note that Axle is not compatible with IOG T&C. One thing to consider is Octopus's own integrated battery management scheme - in addition to Axle-like "sessions", they do full management. (And they pay your GE subscription.) In principle they can prevent battery discharging to car, but not sure that happens in practise.

On cheap daytime slots - possibly a disadvantage for those of us with solar, who would rather be exporting for 12p, rather than putting our own solar into the car. A cheap slot is only useful if you are actually importing. Though if you are on FIT, maybe that works differently.

It's way outside the scope of the GE app. Most here use Home Assistant. I have my own home-brew python scripts. (Planned IOG slots change at such short notice that I tend to watch the car charger itself, rather than the IOG schedule.)

DD I have a zappi charger installed by Octopus and the engineer did install the clamps and wiring ensuring there was no conflict and indeed the installation worked perfectly until the last couple of months when I started using the new GivEnergy app. Same situation with trialing alternative apps.
I'm aware of Axle and Octopus t&Cs but I export every evening which always tend to coincide with Axle events and there is no conflict.
I believe there is a Predbat monthly subscription plan which I may investigate as I'm quite happy to pay a reasonable subscription for ease of management rather than constantly monitoring apps daily.

IJHHH the installation worked perfectly until the last couple of months when I started using the new GivEnergy app.

I can't think of any reason why the change in app should have had any effect on the behaviour: if the GE system cannot the Zappi, it cannot respond to anything it imports. A hardware fix to the problem cannot be undone by a software change.

I have a workround that works for me.
I have IOG + Ohme Pro EV charger + Solar PV + GE HY3.6 gen1 + GE 8.2 battery.
I did have WonderWatt but have disabled this following the GE premium charge (i'm not paying it).
Note that with the Ohme Pro charger the Ohme app handles all the IOG scheduling instead of the Ocotpus app.

I have an old PHEV which takes max of 1h 45m to charge. It also has an onboard scheduler and I have set it to only charge after 00:30.
When I plug the car in during the day, it will ignore any charging that the Ohme tries to do via on the fly slots. Then at 00:30 it will allow the Ohme to charge the car.
On the Ohme I have set it for 100% charge by 04:30 so at the end of the off peak period (05:30) the car will be fully charged and any attempts by the Ohme to do more charging (either due to the off peak rate extending past 05:30 or later on the fly slots) will do nothing.
This has been succesful at stopping the GE battery being emptied into the car and also stopping solar charging the car rather than exporting.
On the down side, it doesn't handle topping up the GE battery during on the fly charge periods.

alan_johnston Thanks, I use the Octopus app for schedules as my Nissan leaf wasn't compatible. May look into this as we have a second VW car which can integrate.
