July 2026 has just become the best solar month in 3 years surpassing June 2025 and there's still 3 days to go!
17 panels, Solaredge 6kW inverter currently just below 1MWh for the month - an average of 34 kWh per day. Sold half of this to Octopus for £60.

For me, best solar month for export was May 2025 circa 442kwh vs 393 for July 26 (so far).

Multiple heat waves in July 2026 has smashed the previous record by a massive margin.
947.8kWh in the end, a new record for me, would have been more it the battery was working.
same 30.6kWh a day average as May 2025.

Not quite 1MWh here on I.W. I have 5.1kWp array facing 150 deg. Installed for 3 years and this July was my best month ever at 946kWh. The average peak power was 4.4kW well down due to heat. Full info at pvoutput.org GivCowes1

Best month ever by a huge margin. 1070kWh for July 2026. Next best was 970kWh in June 2025.
Worst day was 30th; 22.5kWh! and even then I exported 5.5kWh.
Best day was 2nd; 43.5kWh with 31.5kWh exported.

Has anyone tried cooling their solar panels in the hot weather in an attempt to increase solar output ? Or is the additional cost/effort not worth the extra output.

Maxwell Not tried that but you could also use the warmed water after cooling the panels as input to a heat pump to utilise even more energy.

Maxwell Although the generating efficiency drops when panels get hot, just think about the solar heat that they are preventing from reaching your roof, which, in turn, reduces your cooling requirements!

Maxwell I don't think it makes financial sense unless its a large commercial PV farm & even then its probably borderline for most of the UK.
I've seen various systems in France/Spain which use sealed watercooling but we're talking MW's of panels and they're in areas where 30-35C was "normal" for summer. I guess they'll spread further northwards in years to come.

This is a histogram of my daily solar generation since i moved over to a pi based givtcp to store the inverter data locally. X axis is the daily generation buckets and the y axis counts the number of days that generated that amount.
