I have a GivEnergy install consisting of a 9.5kWh battery, a 5kW Gen 1 hybrid inverter and 12 JA Solar panels [405W]
Some weeks ago, all connection between my data dongle and the internet ceased and the dongle has continuously flashed blue ever since. All attempts to reconnect the unit have failed and I concluded that the Wi-Fi receiver of the dongle itself is broken.
I have bought a new dongle from ABC renewables and would like advice on how to hook it up.
I am aware that there is a token file on the original dongle which is registered as mine in the data app, now run by the former data department of GivEnergy. I am signed up for the premium subscription.
Question 1.
How should I go about replacing the old dongle with the new?
a. Should I cancel my data account and sign up for a new account with the new dongle?
b. Or - should I overwrite/replace the token file on the new dongle with the one on the old dongle [Assuming the storage system on the old dongle is intact] and then continue to use my existing account?
Question 2
Should I close down the whole system - following the GivEnergy training room YouTube video - replace the dongle and then restart the system, again following the training room video?
If the new dongle functions correctly, I know how to reconnect it to my internet, but is there anything else anyone can suggest that I should do? Advice will be gratefully received as comprehensive searches in these forums has not produced a systematic set of instructions for my situation, and bits and pieces from all over the place can be so confusing.
