Are you running a 3rd party app constantly or say GivTCP or Home Assistant

I have been downloading my dataset on a daily basis for several years with the records at 5 minute intervals; around mid-April this year the intervals dropped to between 5 and 30 secs, but by mid-May they returned to 5 minute intervals and have remained at that rate since then. I do have Home Assistant with GivTCP running.

hoggy I'm running GivTCP, but that's accessing the inverter locally. I assume the inverter sends data to the GE cloud, rather than being accessed from outside, or at least via some connection it's made, because my home network is not accessible from the internet. If anyone can confirm or deny this, that would be useful.

Here's the first few rows with selected fields from 2026-07-30's data:

Clearly shows sampling interval of around 13 secs, and values are changing.

johngouk If you are pulling your inverter data from the cloud via the ge api then the network your inverter is on has internet connectivity. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to pull your inverter data from the cloud. What I discovered when I started using givtcp to access my inverter data locally was that it changed the data rate to the cloud. So prior to me using givtcp my cloud data was at 5min intervals. With givtcp running and a 30s refresh rate then the cloud data was also at 30s interval.

johngouk Ah, I note that the mechanism for the GE inverter TCP data transmission apparently sends to all connected clients whenever any one of the client asks for data. So my GivTCP is driving it to send more frequently. I telnet-ed into the 8899 port and, completely unprompted, received data every N seconds. So, my fault! I wonder if the GE software guys are seeing massive (40x?) data volume increases for GivTCP users... ouch.

Maxwell Whoops, I was researching while you typed! Thanks for that. I believe this has been mentioned earlier, but there's technical research here.

johngouk Which doesn't really cover the reason the HF-A21 works the way it does (by design) and is rather dated in terms of what happens after it connects. Also GE app effectively acts as a proxy.

All covered a while back if one were to search the forum 😉

What is this stuff you are posting about.
Does it have anything to do with GivEnergy systems?

@SteveCook More of the same spam. Let's hope it's just down to the fact that they have an un-monitored auto account sign up process still active and nothing more serious. As ever, don't click the link.
