Who is this imbecile 'xtameemfl' and why is he allowed to post?

I don't think this group is moderated but is there a way of filtering out this moron?

I think it's a BOT and is churning out random sentences (AI generated?) to defeat any automatic moderation. Note there is a link at the bottom (don't click it) which is the whole point of the spamming.

I suspect the account creation process for the community is automated. So no human in the loop and I doubt that there is any GE staff moderating this forum.

I keep flagging them up but as yet nothing seems to have been done to block them 🤦

Ortwin There are no mods. There haven't been mods for years so nobody will respond.

Given the open sign-up process these forums are probably in breach of current UK laws (OSA2023) as people could post links to anything & they won't be removed within a reasonable timescale.

Things will only get worse.

Can someone be given admin rights and delete all such posts?

Honestly a few AI Bot driven posts is nothing compared to the multiple threads created by real people on the same topic or asking the same questions over and over without using the most basic of forum etiquette to search first.

It's interesting that the Givenergy app still forwards you to this forum in the known issues section, therefore they should take responsibility for the site and close down the spammers. Or is that there intension to pee us foo even more.

Just googled it and it is posting everywhere so I had thought to post insults but I don’t think a machine cares!

I believe they are now banned from the forum so the spam should stop (unless they setup another account)

hoggy There are two accounts doing similar. Although the other isn't as prolific. Unless they have a process of restricting new accounts to existing customers then we could see more new accounts.

hoggy Wasn't having a go at you. As long as the issue is with a lack of proper account creation validation and isn't part of a more serious compromise of their cloud or company capability.

wrighar Indeed and that one does break the OSA laws as it links to a gambling site outside the UK, also because this site has no age verification so its unlawful to post links to anything which is age restricted.

I wish whoever "owns" the forum would just let archive.is image the forum and then shut it.

The forum is done for any useful info, people have moved elsewhere for various reasons.

All I'd like to see is it imaged and made independently available for future reference. There's a lot of good info here which simply doesn't exist elsewhere.

@hoggy Wonder if it is worth asking your GE contact if it is is with suspending their new account creation process. This would then help determine whether there is a wider security concern. Appreciate it may impact those customers who haven’t yet got on board.
