When I opt in to an Axle grid event as the export starts the load to the house increases stepwise from about 250W to about 750W for no apparent reason (ie nobody has started any other device etc) and this load continues until the event finishes. Is this normal?
Axle grid event
Fozzy Its the power the inverter uses rather than actual house load.
Do you have a solar iBoost. When my export starts and the solar iBoost "sees" it, it starts up to heat the hot water. I did build an ESP32 to talk to the iBoost and stop it, but that died during an ESP integration update, I am working on another, but for now have fitted a wifi fuse spur and Tuya to turnoff the iboost when there is an Axle event
Thanks for feedback. Steve. Yes we have the equivalent to an iboost (myeddi) but I turned that off. Vestas. So the inverter can be using about 500W to export to grid?
Fozzy
Whether the inverter is exporting battery (DC) or PV (DC) it has to convert the DC to AC (grid) and there will be a loss. I dont know how that shows up as a house load and how much
Fozzy The app has a couple of ways of dealing with inverter losses. If you press the pencil icon at the top right of the animated dashboard, the third option is 'calculated load'. I can't remember which way round that goes now, but I think on/off is whether inverter losses are added into the load, or lost (so that inverter losses don't get shown, and the numbers don't add up). Can't test it now since the inverter isn't working very hard.
The other Android app has an explicit entry for inverter consumption
