Clearing some battery space for my free hour of electricity 13:00-14:00

Washing machine primed
Dishwasher set
Oven and air-fryer geared for an full lunch
Battery set to charge so we can send it off to AXLE-VPP this evening at 19:00.

What have I missed....

I got about 30% charged this morning from one of my free octopus hours. Started at 8% and think it was about 40% when it finished. Haven’t yet dig into the detail. Currently on another free hour and battery charging again.

On a related note. I know there is the discussion about the capability to change the 3.6 to 5 kW inverters via a change of settings (barring any issues of g98vsg99 and local wiring sizes.) But is the 3600W max charge discharge on the batteries limited by their physical design or is there some setting either in the inverter or battery that can be altered to increase that as well ?

Maxwell I think it's the inverter's battery interface that limits the rate. For smaller batteries, the rate is also limited to 0.5C if that is smaller.

I've got some free hours banked, but at the moment, of fairly limited value: charging up 3kWh of battery is only worth 36p to re-export. I could run washing machine / dishwasher, but they cost pennies to run overnight (both have timers so I can run them off-peak). I guess I could heat the water, but again that's fairly cheap overnight. (I assume - never actually calculated the cost.) Even my old Leaf only charges at 3.6kW, so that would be displacing about 25p overnight import.

I'm hoping to save them till I have to start running the heating. But even then, it's not really until Dec/Jan that it would be displacing any peak-time import.

I guess I'm in a fortunate position to be able to turn up my nose at an hour's free electricity. One Axle event is worth a lot more.

Free weekend hrs are only until 1st Nov... I believe.

Even the 5kW inverters are only 3.6kW max from battery.
They were upped from 3.3kW to 3.6kW by a firmware update some time ago (65A to 70A charging).

Yes. And of course the hours Octopus are offering may reduce as solar drops off. So it is a bit of a risk.

Productive day,
Charge on cheap rate, exported some to make use of free electricity hour, then sold it to Axle at £1.00/kWh plus Octopus export rate:
Will empty remaining battery around 11pm as per normal.

You can see the nice BMS power taper down at over 90% charged.
