Hybrid - charge battery from DC and AC at same time?

Am I correct in thinking a hybrid inverter is not able to send DC from the panels AND converted AC to the battery at the same time?

No, if the inverter is told to charge the battery at a certain rate, it'll use power from the panels first and AC/grid power to make up the difference.

I did this on my battery a few days ago when we had very cloudy weather.

Is it able to set that battery charge rate dynamically based on the combined household micro generation excess, from the panels connected to hybrid and from another PV array with it's own AC inverter?

I'm looking to add a new PV array and GivEnergy batteries alongside an existing PV array.
I was thinking I needed a GivEnergy AC 3.0 inverter to be able to send excess generation from both PV arrays to the battery but if the Giv-HY 5.0 is able to send DC (from new PV array) and converted AC (from my existing string inverter) to the battery then I can save some money and DC-AC conversion losses.

Is the scenario that you may have say 1 kW excess from the existing PV inverter (that would otherwise be grid export), AND say 2 kW from the new solar PV, resulting in a potential 3 kW charge rate of the battery connected to a new hybrid inverter? The EM115 grid meter connected to the hybrid inverter will detect the potential 1 kW grid export from the existing PV inverter, but how does it respond to those conditions?

Note the maximum charge/discharge rate between a 5 kW hybrid inverter and a battery is 3.6 kW.
