System Resilience/Reliance on GE Servers

Just to satisfy my curiosity.....

How resilient are the GE AC battery systems?

Specifically, how reliant are they on being able to talk to the GE servers, via my internet connection? If there was a long-term internet outage - or if GE went bust - would the system just continue in the mode it was previously using? Would there be a local way to change this, under such circumstances, or would all access to data and control/settings be lost?

Obviously the WiFi dongle/s would still be active, to connect to, but from memory this does not allow you to change any significant settings.

There is 2 offline solutions in use

The GE Appp in Local mode.

Or HomeAssistant and the Addon GivTCP. Running on a Raspberry Pi or other docker container

TheDragon (GivEnergy) Does the app allow settings changes now without internet/cloud access?
It didn't a while back when I tried (local read fine still) when our BT line was being repaired.

Not tried. But the GivTCP way does allow write in Local mode

I'm not sure the app is much use without an internet connection. Plus what if you need to reinstall it on another device, how are you supposed to log in? I said this a while ago, there needs to be an offline fall back, be it a web portal that is locally accessible or some other method.

I'm with OP. I think there is a huge amount of integration that requires the GE mothership. The two times that my PV system was left without internet access (due to various reasons), the inverter went IDLE within a few hours.

I don't think the system are able to operate on their own and loosing the mothership can have a significant impact....

There is a definite need for the My Inverter/Settings and Remote Control pages to be presented via the local network to keep the system running in the event of a broadband outage.
What is the point of the EPS output from a hybrid inverter, if it cannot keep your household ticking over in the event of a local region power fail. Thinking of some areas of Scotland and North England that had outages for a couple of weeks earlier this year, that would have affected local broadband and 3G/4G provision.

A couple of weeks on Battery? How are you re-charging them? A few hours at best

That is one of the positive points of the hybrid inverter is it not?
Each day the solar PV can top up the battery to keep essential loads powered, even without grid power.
I am thinking fridge/freezer, broadband and a few lights, say around 2-3 kWh per day.
Not the full house load obviously, unless you have a very large solar PV array and battery storage.
