Can the layout of GivEnergy charts be improved?

Am I the only one who finds the charts for GivEnergy's "My inverter" dashboard (on the "General" tab) confusing? I believe my confusion arises because it is not clear to me why some topics are charted as positive and some are negative. And putting four topics overlaid on the same chart makes it difficult to read. I believe the following layout be much easier to read and understand: show inputs to the house from grid, solar and battery below the line as a cumulative amount, and show outputs to battery, house usage and to the grid above the line, again as a cumulative amount. Different colours could show the amount of input or output to each topic. Of course, at any time, the cumulative inputs will equal the cumulative outputs.

Note: The current charts are showing grid input as negative and battery charging as negative, which I find confusing.

I understand the logic of Grid Load and Battery Load, but I think most people want to know what power is coming into their house (inputs: grid, solar or battery) and where is it going (outputs: house devices, battery or grid). Simple logic would lead to a simple, easy to understand graph. And by showing a cumulative value at any time, broken down by colour to show inputs and output types, the chart would be much clearer (unlike the current charts which attempt to overlay colours on top of each other).

But I think you have a simple mistake of point of reference. You seem to think of your house as the reference and the solar is outside???? Battery outside? I'm sorry to burst your world view, but they are not. That is why the LOAD concept is important and everyone is sticking with it. It provides a reference for every engineer that might have to work on lots of different systems.

I can see that many of the people working on this site are engineers and your comment reflects that point of view. I believe my viewpoint reflects that of the common man who is typical of the majority of GivEnergy's customers. Customers of GivEnergy need a simple representation of their energy use - inputs and outputs. Maybe two graphs are required - one for engineers and one for the customers.

The portal uses the HighCharts library so it would be safe to assume that (within reason) any of the other chart formats available are fair game. Perhaps run through the Chart Demo pages and if you see one that would work better then suggest it as an improvement?

DYoull that is why the first thing I said was "check the reports". You can access them from the menu on the left.

DYoull To be honest I find them very clear and pretty obvious and does exactly what you are asking it to do! And you can click on the sources to turn the graph for that element off if you want to see just one or a combination of data sources.

Thanks to a couple of you who have pointed me towards the "Reports" section. As a new user, I had not tried those and I do find them useful - especially the "ENERGY FLOW GRAPH" which gives a representation of energy flow along the lines I was looking for. Ideally, I would like to see that data presented on a chart hour by hour on GivEnergy's "My inverter" dashboard (on the "General" tab), not (as at present) as a summary. However, this may reflect a lack of knowledge on my part as to how to obtain and use these charts - I shall investigate further.
