Battery not discharging

I've just logged in to the online portal and noticed that the battery in my system hasn't discharged anything since just after midnight, even when there's a large spike in demand. Has anyone else seen this and, if so, do you have any tips on how to resolve the problem?

I've tried turning Eco mode off and back on again, but that doesn't appear to have resolved the problem.

Have you checked the battery isolator? These have a history of failing. If it has tripped, I suggest you turn the battery off by pressing the power button on the top right hand side for ten seconds until it powers down. Switch on the isolator (push it to the up position like on your consumer unit) and then power up the battery using the same button. You don't have to switch off the battery but if there's a fault somewhere then I think it's best to have the battery shut down first.

If this is the cause and it happens again, contact your installer and ask them to look at it. They'll probably want to swap out a faulty isolator under warranty.

And wouldn't it be handy if the inverter was able to detect loss of battery voltage and put a log into the Notifications?

Thanks Tim. I've checked the isolator and it's in the up position, so it's not that. I tried enabling and then disabling the timed discharge mode, and then performed a "reset to defaults" on the settings page in the portal, and now it's charging again 🤷‍♂️

The reported SoC has been stuck at 100% since 9am this morning, so I'm not sure why it thinks it needs to charge; perhaps this is another bug in the latest BMS firmware (it got upgraded to 3007 back in June).

404 Not Found Hi Paul. Did you find out why it wasn't discharging? I ask as my battery is now not discharging and is stuck on 100%

I ended up phoning GivEnergy... it took a few attempts to get them to understand the problem, but they eventually "reset everything to default" and initiated a battery calibration. The system started working again once the calibration had finished, but it's not clear to me that they understand why it went wrong in the first place. If your system is doing the same then I recommend calling them tomorrow... most of the emails I've sent have gone unanswered.

404 Not Found Thanks for the reply Paul I appreciate it. I will definitely give them a call tomorrow.

Michael No problem... let us know how you get on. I found it helpful to have a couple of clear examples that I could point to, so it might be worth noting some dates/times when power was drawn from the grid and not the battery.

I recently had this problem and I gave GivEnergy a call. It was a simple fix....the batter reserve was somehow set to 100%, therefore it was never discharging.

I asked how this was possible and was told it can sometimes happen when using the "play/pause" buttons on the app and the data not being "saved" when "unpaused". I can't remember exactly what I was doing or did, but it was likely a user error for me.

The customer service chap reset the battery and restored defaults and we were up and running and immediately began discharging the battery. Hope this helps someone.
