numbers don't add up

I'm trying to understand the generation figures on the new dash board. Total generation 435.5 kwh. Consumption 275.5KWh. Battery charge total 117.1kwh. Export to grid 139.9kwh. C+BC+ E = 532.5, not 435.5. Or is the battery charge part of general house consumption, but C+E=415.4. If this is correct does this mean I've lost 20kwh to losses switching from DC to AC etc through the inverters and battery? This would equate to approx 4.5% loss. Is this in the normal range? But then why do the live figures appear to show things as separate - Generation 1.4, Consumption 53W, battery charge 1.2Kwh, export 17W. Totally confused now - are live and total figures actually calculated in different ways?

Karen You aren't the first to find the portal data confusing. We all know what terms mean and then realise that someone is using the term in a different way. "Self consumption" is a case in point. I took this to mean "how much of what I consume comes from what I generate" but it is "how much of what I generate do I consume". The actual metric is of much interest to commercial generators where the "house load" should be kept as low as possible to maximise the income. My interest is how much grid import have I avoided by putting the money on the roof. Anyway, that's how it is.

The figures to add up mathematically, unless you have a multi-inverter system, but only after the event. The "live" portal data can be anywhere between five and ten minutes old and some summary figures on the dashboard are only updated every hour or so (I think). The timings of the updates to the portal can also vary.

My advice would be to use the app in Local for "here and now" and use the portal to look at trends etc from yesterday going back.
