Inverter safe temperature

At about 13:30 today the inverter temperature reached 59C and there was a big dip in the PV power. Are these events related? If so, what is a safe temp for the inverter? Should I point a fan at it during the recent heatwaves?

My inverter stays a lot cooler with the extra fans - peak temperature today whilst charging at 3kW was 49C.

garycatt Potentially daft question but was there a stray cloud that passed over at that point? I mention it because that's exactly what happened to mine.

Likely not related.

But cooler kit lasts longer.
For the sake of a couple of quid, fix a fan. 120mm fit well, above for hybrids sucking up (wont fit) under, below for AC coupled blowing up seems to work best.

I reduced mine by 10C on low speed, 15C on medium, can just hear the fans.
I leave on low, 3 x 120mm 12v fans powered by 5v inveerter peaks now at 45C normally hovers around 37C at full power

Yorkie71 Yes, its possible, but I thought it odd that it happened at exactly the same time as the temp reached a peak. I was wondering if there is a config setting that turns off the inverter at 60C or something?

I was charging my EV at the time, so the inverter was at max output.

Anyway, I've found a USB cooling fan and put it on the top of the left hand heatsink, as that seems to be the hotter side of the inverter box.

TheDragon (GivEnergy) seem to have seen some high temperatures on both inverters today, one above 70 and the other above 80.
I thought there might be a safety cut off for protection?

Also for reference these are in a large detached garage, approximately 7.6m x 4.5m which has ventilation.

I got 2x120mm usb fans on top of unit currently, just left them at full speed, cba to keep going in and out cupboard to lower it when I wake up then remember to turn it on before bed for overnight charge, easier to just leave it maxed out, barely uses any energy I tested with a dumb energy monitor, uses less leccie than 800lumen LED bulb.
