Hi, I am new to this forum and to owning a battery so I am sorry of this question is silly.

We have a lovely sunny day and we are generating 2.5Kw. The house is using little energy (1/2 kw or so) and the battery is nearly empty (6%). Why is the electricity going from the solar panels to the grid and not to the battery ? The system is in eco mode. Is there antything else I should be doing ?

Regards

Alan

AlanHughes You haven't said how long you've had the system but new battery systems have to have a calibration run when first commissioned. It could be that your battery is discharging and, when finished, it will charge to 100%, hopefully from PV.

If the battery has already been calibrated, check that the timed charge, discharge and export are all disabled and check that your battery charge and discharge settings are at maximum.

Failing these, call Givenergy?

@Tim "#p8855 Thanks, I tried those and have since called GivEnergy. It was installed last week and we did have the calibration run on the first day. It was running fine until this morning, I'll see what GivEnergy say. I have checked the settings and they are as you suggest. Thanks for your help.

PS - I note under the picture of the inverter on the web app it shows "POWER NOW" is 0 watts and physically looking at the inverter it has a flashing green circle in the middle. I wonder if this suggests the inverter is not working for some reason.

Hello. Also a new user and very similar problem.
After months waiting for Battery and parts my 5.2kwh battery and AC inverter were finally wired up to my home grid and previously fitted PV yesterday lunchtime.
The Battery appeared to fully charge yesterday and then powered our House when the sun went down.
This morning the battery slowly charged up to about 23% and then intermittently through the day either trickle charged or refused to charge at all.
At 3pm battery is now at 29% and refusing to charge further.
During the morning i have exported 11 KWH to the grid !!
All settings via the Givenergy portal are on default. (ECO, no charge or discharge set)
I suppose I'll give it till tomorrow to see if magically rights itself and then have to chase the installer.
Very disappointing.

IDC chase the installer.

I'd give them a ring now. They can see your inverter remotely, the same as you can and they can check the settings.
@AlanHughes Should have mentioned that it's worth checking that the battery isolator hasn't tripped. It should be in the Up position (same as the isolator in your consumer unit)

Tim Thanks for the advice. I don't think it has tripped. I'm waiting for GivEnergy to call back.

Cheers

Update : Things seem fixed again. It appears it was related to a firmware upgrade which was changed, thugh I haven't had this confirmed officially.
