I have had solar panels for 11 years. I have an EV FOR 3years charged via an EO smart charger set to solar for the productive 6 hrs daily at 15 amps and Octopus Go’s cheap nightime rate. I have recently upgraded my inverter to a GivEnergy hybrid model with a 5.2 KWHr battery. I am looking for advice as to integrate all these together to make use of the solar power I produce and when to best charge the EV. GivEnergy have suggested this forum as a good starting point.

Many thanks

Home Assistant is you best bet, Givenergy is now fairly well supported so that solves your "Whats my PV doing" & "stop my battery discharging into the car" problems.
Now to the EO, i did spend some time last year trying to push this on for both GE and also the wider community BUT i dont have access to every charger out there so could only reverse engineer so much.
I did reverse engineer the EO app such that you can log in & see certain things from their API, whether thays enough i dont know, unsurprisingly no one really wanted to take it further.
If you search on the Home Assistant forums there's a post along the lines of "EV Charger API collection" (same username as on here) which has the barebones to make a start on interfacing with your charger.

I dont know about EO chargers but the Zappi chargers have a couple of options in the installer section that let you control how and where the power goes. Zappi has three modes first prioritises the EV charge over the battery (avoid charge), second without draining the battery (avoid drain), or both. maybe worth seeing if EO have same options?

Thanks to both. I still have unresolved issues around when to try and use spare energy to charge the car. I think I will use solar to charge the battery and Octopus Go at night to charge the EV.
