Hello, I’m experiencing a grid power failure at the moment and thought it would be very useful to be able to switch over and use my battery. However because my router is down I can’t access the inverter to initiate a discharge. As anyone got any ideas about how I could do this?
Switching to battery during a power failure
The inverter is grid-tied, so if the mains power goes down then the inverter shuts down. This is to prevent the battery backfeeding into the grid and frying a linesman. There is no way to power the house from the battery in a "standard" installation in the event of a mains power-cut.
You can wire into the Emergency Power Supply, though this needs a sparky and is fairly limited in what it can do. Details are here:

Solar1 As @Zakalwe says, the EPS has limited output but your broadband and some other light-power circuits are prime candidates to be fed from it. If you have a modern digital telephone service from BT (and maybe other suppliers) which will only work when there is power, the EPS is a perfect solution. If your phone line is still copper from a cabinet, you should be OK but more and more are moving to being plugged into the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) box and these fail without mains.
Hi, I had a GivEnergy system installed last week and we have wired the downstairs ring main which is 16A fuse, by removing it from the main fuseboard and putting it in a sub-fuse box which also contains the control unit fuse/circuit
Remember max output from the battery is 3kW
Haven't had a power cut yet to test if it actually will work
MBrownsey We used to have a caravan with a 16A electric hook up. Some sites protected their supply to us with a 10A MCB, while others allowed the full 16A. Although we had a lower-wattage electric kettle (10A) than the usual 3kW, we sometimes tripped the MCB when the kettle was on and someone switched the microwave on.
Just hope your kitchen appliances are on a separate supply.
