Does anyone know where I can find the current rates for Octopus Agile?
All the current talk has me thinking about moving to the Agile tarriff.
Thanks in advanace

These are today's rates in Yorkshire. Not sure if the price differently by region or not

I was on the same as you but moved over to Agile, don't think I've seen it below 20p/kWh

Cdent
Thanks.
These are the export rates?
What do Octopus charge you for importing? Is it a flat rate or are the import rates variable too? (based on the wholesale markets)
I switched from Outgoing Fixed to Outgoing Agile yesterday.
I originally chose Fixed based on very out of date info on Octopus site about Agile rates (from 2018!). Have since been directed to a better site that shows pretty much that the Agile rate hasn't got anwhere as low as 7.5p/kWh for a long time.
After following the "process" on the Octopus site to make the switch: "We offer either the Fixed Outgoing or Agile Outgoing tariff. You are free to change at any time, just let us know via hello@octopus.energy" I had a few email exchanges where they finally said I had to reapply from scratch. So that wasted 10 days! So yesterday I filled out the same web form I did when I first connected - you need the export MPAN, MCS certifcate number and DNO letter, then just select Agile button and Apply. I expected this to be as painful as the first time, but noticed today I have been switched already!
GivEnergy Smart Tariff card is still showing my old Fixed tariff but I hope that syncs up properly in the next day or so.
I haven't changed my import tariff (still on the capped variable one I got given when transferred from Avro last September). Really not sure what to do about import tariff. Most advice at the moment is stay on what I have.
Stevef1964 BTW todays "Agile Outgoing Octopus" rate is a min of 41p/kWh, max of 75p and average of 58p!!
JaseSpace I’ve emailed them to swap too. But heard nothing. When I get back home I’ll “apply” again if that is the way to go!

anglefire hopefully get a referral from one of the regular helpers on the Facebook forum
anglefire I emailed them some time ago also. I'll go through the re-application process as well.
Outgoing agile rates have been sky high for a week or so now- even with "round trip" efficiencies figured in, it makes it well worth filling batteries from the grid and then exporting it back repeatedly. Which I have been doing 😀
TheDragon (GivEnergy) I’m already on octopus. Fixed it last September at 24p and 7p ish gas for 2 years. One of our better decisions! - 7.5p fixed export.
wilfleek your right it’s crazy! Today I have imported 8kw and exported 28kw so over £10 profit. Too good to be true? We will have to see what the future holds….

Thanks for all the replies.
So just for clarification:
I'm already with Octopus for my gas and electricity (moved over from Avro when they went under).
I am also on the Outgoing Octopus tarriff - 7.5p kwh.
If I change to Agile it will not impact my current importing Gas & Electric tarriffs?

The reason I ask is because there is another tarriff called Agile Octopus which is not the exporting tarriff.
This was confusing me, hence the thread. But now I'm clear.
Outgoing Octopus has two flavours "Fixed" and "Agile"
Like JaceSpace I have just re-applied to go on Outgoing Octopus - Agile.
Lets see how quickly the change happens.
Again, thanks to all for the replies.
I will now have to make changes to my spreadsheet to cater for Agile. Fixed was easy!!!
Stevef1964 I am in exactly the same position as you (on the Avro-went-bust import tariff with Octopus). You can switch to Outgoing Agile w/o affecting your import tariff. I did it early this week, no probs.

Stevef1964 I'm on the price cap, so 27p/kwh with a standing charge of about 48p/day

Stevef1964 yes, as JaseSpace mentions it won't affect your import tariff. Only caveat is you can't be on both Go and Agile Outgoing

just to add, you need a smart-smart meter - a SMETs 2 one. Currently waiting for OE to upgrade my not-so-smart SMETS1
ivell hi that’s not 100% accurate as I have a gen 1 meter and I’m currently on the outgoing Agile tariff. I think it’s because it is a secure meter when the early ones are not, I’m assuming someone could falsify the outgoing data and that’s what they are worried about!
Cdent this is exactly the position I am in and I know this is simplistic but if you have an EV and do decent mileage Go is the way to go. As I don’t outgoing agile is fantastic, especially if your PV system generates a surplus. For example my net profit was £12 yesterday and the “why” it’s so good is because when prices go up you gain. This is psychologically we’re I want to be right now!

CARLMW same here, no EV (yet) and I'm checking the Octopus app daily to see when the best time to export is and manually setting up a timed export of my battery to maximise the returns. System should pay itself off in a few years at this rate.

CARLMW yes - SMETS2 or Secure SMETS1

Does anyone track their readings/savings in a spreadsheet?
I have been and am happy to share my spreadsheet.
The next bit for me is to create something to track the Outgoing Agile figures. Tracking the fixed tarriff was easy.
Anyone already have one that tracks the agile tarriff?
The octopus Watch app allows you to track the agile import and export really well. They have also added the gas records in the latest version. (pay for the upgrade to get details to the half hour).
I'm in a very fortunate position. I have jumped onto Agile in March and thought the 35p cap was going to be used in the winter. Since then I have been exporting soo much.
There was a couple of weeks when Agile was toxic, they were hitting 35p but only paying 16p which means you have to export double what you use to break even.
The worst ever day was when they gave away 4 hours of free energy. I could not use enough to make 20p that day (export was 1p).
The sweet spot was in the summer, 35p import, 30p export and glorious sunshine to make the money.
Moving into the winter I have been charging overnight (at 2kw per hour) and exporting it during the 7:30-8:30 peak (this does move).
I then pump all my energy from the battery 5:30 -7pm to make the money.
At the current prices, I only have to export around half my import. All excess allows me to offset my usage.
Those wanting to jump on agile - import price was raised to 74p (I might be off by a couple of p). Export is likely to keep rising, last September seen £2.60 per KWH as a one off but I think one offs might be more common this year.
mrand31 I emailed them some time ago also. I'll go through the re-application process as well.
Having re-applied on the web site as a way of changing from outgoing fixed to agile, I was changed over today.
I'm now slightly conflicted, because it seems that being on 27.5p fixed import and agile export I can just continuously cycle through charging and discharging the battery throughout the day and get paid for it irrespective of what the sun is doing.

mrand31 yep, no harm in doing that now, today's minimum price is 38.16p/kWh export for me, easy enough to make a lot of money from this process. Arbitrage, I think someone else called it.
When the import price is 50p will be a different story

I have been conflicted trying to decide to switch to Agile for the Summer, but now I have an EV I am sucking up a lot more of my generation. My worry is if Octopus reject my switch back from Agile to Go. This month my Go tariff has cost me (not including standing charge) £22.43 import and export £12.59. Agile would of been £39.88 import and £101.19 export. Even on the new 55p import price. But from the end of this week I will be putting up to 16kw per night into the car, and if Octopus didn't let me switch to Go..... I dunno, maybe I will chance it next year, from April - September Agile it, then October to March Go it.

THALL from my understanding you can change your tariff by emailing them, but can't do it more than once every 30 days, so no harm in you being on Go over winter with the SEG payment as export (not that you'll probably export a lot anyway) and then switching back to standard with Agile Outgoing in Spring/Summer to maximise the export payments
You have to have 30 days on the standard tariff in between smart tariffs, it's not that you can switch every 30 days.
Looking at their website it says that import price cap per unit has increased to 78p/kWh, what does this mean in the grand scheme of things and making some money out of it? I guess in theory you'll be making less?

Ra if you're on Agile Import then yes it's likely you won't make as much if you charge your battery by import. In that case probably best to be on the standard price cap tariff as that'll be 52p/kWh

Ra Yeah I saw the price increase, though on my account screen mine says 68.8p/kwh. Doesnt matter, updated my Go tariff last month so wont touch anything again until next March/April. Should have more panels and a second battery by then too....... been waiting since Easter this year for the install.
UKRG I have never been on a standard tariff between a few changes of smart tariff (I am usually on Agile with Agile Flexible Outgoing for April to September, then have switched to Go for October to March so I can charge my battery overnight) . I think the 30 days on a standard tariff is one of those rumours that becomes a fact.
I have chosen not to take the arbitrage opportunity of charging at my 35p import rate which is often much less than peak export rates. However, I do export from my battery during the evening peak as the solar panels have filled the battery during the day and if I export to 50% I can run off battery power until the Sun gets his hat on again in the morning.
I've swapped to agile outgoing - came into effect today.
What the best way of automating the export? To use the portal's automation or to DIY via GivTCP?

I placed my order to get on Agile last Friday and they had changed me over on Monday.
I notice they seem to be sending me the money for what I've exported every other day. Is that normal or is it just in the interim whilst they finalise billing? It get added to my balance.
Is it the norm to get it added to your balance every other day?
Mine is done on a monthly basis, but there again I am with Octopus for our supply anyway, so my monthly bill includes an outgoing anaylsis for that month.

Mine is credited monthly as part of the bill. 5th of each month.
Quick note/help for Octopus customers as I've just found - you can only specify Octopus Outgoing (Fixed or Agile) as long as you're not on Octopus Go for import. i.e. Outgoing can be added if you're on Octopus Fixed, Flexible, Tracker or Agile for import. If you're on Go for import, then you can only be on the Octopus SEG for export (4.1p/kWh).
The current cap (from 4pm 29th Aug) on Agile/Tracker import is 78p/kWh.
Prices for Agile import and export in your area can be found on this site
I had an email from Octopus today - The switch actually occurred on the 28th - and they sent me a credit statemen for August - £1.09 from 4th Aug to 28th Aug - and 25p from 28th Aug to 30th Aug. And nothing has changed my end! So worth doing if nothing else changes and I don't play the forced charge/discharge game!
Stevef1964 whilst im waiting for Octopus to put me on Outgoing Agile i have written a little excel tracker that lets me track my system import and export.

its still in it's infancy but is beginning to give me insights the above is just one of the reports

smudge Thanks smudge. I have seen this or something similar.
My GivEnergy portal seems to be giving me a pretty good reading and the costs. I also check everything using the Octopus Watch, the Octupus app and my Smart Meter Display and they all seem to be tallying up (although some are only to two decimal places and other three!) The recent bills I've received have confirmed this.
Since those two days when I received a couple of payments I have received nothing since so am assuming they did this to get eveything lined up for the end of the month.
My tracking sheet is evolving and am happy to share, but it seems there is no function here to upload a spreadsheet or document.
You can see regional and historical rates here:
https://www.energy-stats.uk/octopus-agile-outgoing-export/
has anyone noticed any change in the agile export data as reported on the givenergy app/website?
about 3 weeks ago it stopped showing me the daily earnings from exported energy -and only shows the imported rate
GE says 'the developers might have changed it on the app ' -but my neighbour, who has the same system , is still getting this data -which is really useful to have when working out when to export or not !
And I am still getting that data, too.
I have no export data either but having only recently set Smart Tariff up, I thought it was my mistake. All I can see is the kwh exported on the Home Dashboard. The new Smart Tariff icon (small lightbulb with a £) gives no export income. On the Smart Tariff Information, the historical breakdown only shows import not export. My app on Android is v3.1.20.3137. I wonder what vsn your friends have? I have another app, Octopus Go Agile, which does give me export revenue, albeit a day later, not current. That would indicate that my Octopus settings are correct. A GivEnergy problem?
I have just switched to Octopus Agile on my import.
I have a 5.0 Gen 1 inverter and a 9.2kwhr battery and 14 panels.
When we get to sunnier months around March, daytime use should pretty much covered by panels and ensure that by late afternoon the battery is still charged, however in these months of low sun, I don't want the battery drained during the day.
I would really like to set to auto import around 00:30 - 05:00 to hopefully get cheap(est) power and auto discharge around 16:00 -20:00 to prevent import during the evening peak - though I am not sure if "timed discharge" actually forces discharge of which some may go to export, or it is really "saved for timed usage" - if you see what I mean.
Can I have eco, timed charge and timed discharge all set to enabled without issues?
Thanks
Steve

SteveCook There is a tariff automation for the agile tariff. It is meant to automatically charge from the cheapest slots
Am I correct in understanding that once you’ve applied for export, you don’t have to apply again if you’re shifting to agile/go and back again?
Trying to work out if it will be beneficial to swap between them once the summer starts. It will be our first spring/summer with panels so don’t know what to expect in terms of export usage and whether it would be viable overall as I charge each night.
And you can have outgoing fixed/agile if your on octopus economy 7?
I was/am sticking on Octopus Outgoing for my export and have not done anything to change that.
I have swapped my import to Agile to shift my import away from peak hours.
I may review my export when there is a bit more sun.
Steve
THALL
Hi
Where can I find tariff automations setting?
On PC or on phone?
EDIT - Ah found it in tariff sheet on PC dashboard
I ticked enable automation, but Eco, timed import and timed export are all still showing as set to enable
EDIT
Mind you, the GivEnergy portal is still showing the wrong tariff even though I deleted to old tariff and added the new

SteveCook Give it 24 hours to update. I am considering switching to this late march / april time. I think you select how many charge slots you want, can't remember. Not been on agile since 2021

Smk82
Are you asking if you can or stating it? if asking then yes you can.
Hi
The GivEnergy portal has corrected and is showing the Agile tariff now, and consequently I can see that I can set various tariff automations.
Thanks
Steve

SteveCook Does it ask you how many charge blocks you desire? I really can't remember what it looks like!
Hi
Using phone app 3 options (descriptions after each option but I have not typed out)
I have gone for solar and battery as it says it looks at weather to determine how to charge, but if not fully charged by 2pm will grid charge so battery ready for peak evening (non)grid use
Though eco, timed charge and timed discharge are still "enabled" on the web portal
I don't know if smart tariff settings override the "manual" settings? Perhaps GivEnegy could advise please
Well 10mins after this email, Octopus have now responded to my email of 5 weeks ago where I asked to be on Flexible Octopus October 2022 v1. (not Agile which is what they moved me to)
So they now have to take me off Agile and remotely set the meter for Eco 7 and then move the tariff to Flexible!!
AArgh
Flexible Octopus October 2022 v1
Eco 7 Electricity
Reduced day unit rate (Energy Price Guarantee discount):
40.23 p/kWh
Reduced night unit rate (Energy Price Guarantee discount):
16.72 p/kWh
Standing charge:
47.99 p/day
Electricity
Reduced unit rate (Energy Price Guarantee discount):
33.03 p/kWh
Standing charge:
47.9 p/day**

Ouch to that tariff. Plus it will go up again in April ☹️
Thanks, but which tariff ouch to?
I have smart meters, 14 panels, 5.0 hybrid inverter and 9.5kwhr battery.
What is the best tariff i should be on?

Was more of a general ouch about current energy prices. Currently you only have the options of Flexible, Agile or Cosy. Go if you have an EV or willing to tell a tiny lie about having an ev on order..... Eco 7 is good for battery owners though. 7 hours around 17p then use the battery is pretty good really.
I just got invited to Intelligent with my EV but sadly have Octopus did not share the app correctly and no one with an andoid phone can download the current test version.....
Thanks
I will see if they can get me on Eco 7, though with a single battery and Gen1 inverter I am limited to charge rate/capacity, though my installer did say i would be getting a Gen2 in his emails.
I have asked him to take up a change to Gen2 with the distributor and then perhaps I might install another battery and Eco7 could do 24hrs of house running just about

You can charge that battery in sub 4 hours with that inverter so you will be fine 😄
Just to say that I have Agile incoming and outgoing and had been doing well until the recent cold snap. This has often meant paying zero £ for energy in the early hours and I have also used delay start on appliances to move.consumption to these hours to avoid the cost of a second battery.
The difference between myself and others here is that I can charge my EV at work for free and I don’t do much mileage so don’t need a daily charge. Incoming Agile might work well in my circumstances, but a guaranteed low rate for EV charging ever night must be better for those home charging daily.
