Hello
I have had my system working for around a year. 3 x 8.2kw batteries. I do not check regularly but today noticed one battery has no status light with one charge bar lit solid green. It will not switch off by holding button on side.

Status of other 2 batteries appears normal:
Battery2
status: solid green
charge: one bar flashing green
Battery WILL switch on/off

Battery 3
Status: solid green
charge: one bar solid green
Battery WILL switch on/off

i guess firstly i need to force Battery 1 to switch off/on? any suggestions please for that or should i report as fault?

UPDATE
the SOC was at low limit 4% and is now charging with solar - showing 7% in the App. and the Battery 2 now has a solid bar of charge.

Battery 1 is still showing Status as off and one solid green bar, Will not turn off

I tried to do a forced charge of batteries from grid but it says
"Error with Quick Setting
Inverter Timeout"

I'm not sure where to find information for status of each battery in the apps? presumably its somewhere?!

NOTE: In image above it shows as:
Battery Capacity
320 Ah | 16.38 kWh | (3 Packs)

Surely capacity should show as 24.6kWh?

Tim Adams should i report as fault

Yes! I'd email today and phone first thing tomorrow.

Tim Adams information for status of each battery

The portal and app don't provide this detail, you need Givtcp for that.

small update in case it helps others.

Having reported as a fault on 29th Aug it took until 21st Sept to get an engineer out from the installer. Somewhat disappointed to see the only check was that it was correctly wired which seemed strange when the system had been commissioned around a year earlier!! Was here less than half an hour. seemed like little achieved.

on 5th Oct another installer electrician arrived ... who spoke to GivEnergy.
Rewired to change priority order to Master on the faulty battery. After various diagnostic conversations over many hours it was established the fault was from 16th Aug when there was a Givenergy software update? Apparently same fault has been seen at at least one other installation.

So after a full day on diagnostics it seems that an Electronic Board needs changing?

I await further news.

tbh would have expected faster resolution with better alerting and better/easier diagnostics

Hi Tim.

i'm currently hanging on the phone to Givenergy to try to finalise a very similar issue.

Mine occured when a system update failed to work properly on 31st August. The single 5.2Kw battery was whistling and not charging. As with your experience the button on the side would not switch the battery off (which was the first thing to do under instruction of the Givenergy tech team). I had a service visit booked on the 31st PM and my installer arrived early. I was therefore lucky that he was more comfortable to take off the front of the battery as instructed and remove the USB in the battery that, I understand, stages the firmware for the updates. The USB was deemed faulty and formatting and using one of my own USBs preloaded with the software update was the path taken.

At the moment I am waiting to get a replacement Givenergy battery USB, so that I can swap out and retrieve my USB which is rather oversized and needlessly expensive to leave sitting in the battery.

useful to see other experiences - thanks Mike.

I'm still waiting on news from Givenergy about the eta for a repair or replacement.
Frankly pretty disappointing considering the original report was 29th Aug and we are now 7 weeks later... with no date for a solution

phoned GE to be told "all" engineers are booked until 31st Oct and they cant give me a date. They only have 2 for the whole country it seems.

Somewhat disingenuously told that my fault dates back to 5th Oct - when it was finally diagnosed. Ignoring the facts that it was originally reported on 29th Aug and took forever to get GE & installer to get on the case.

So I await resolution... I will update here.

My recommendation to anyone in same position is to push much more aggressively than I did. I foolishly expected better.

finally got a date for 11th Nov for GE engineer visit.
Lets hope it results in repair/replacement

will update after

so the booked visit for 11th Nov did not happen. No calls or notifications.

I called GE to be told that "sickness" had caused postponement to 22nd Nov which was bad enough. With other emails later from GE saying 11th Nov was not in their diary. Despite the installer being given that date by GE in an email as well as an acknowledgement in my call that 11th Nov was supposed to have been the date. Left hand and right hand clearly not communicating internally - let alone with customers.

All extremely disappointing and brings into question confidence in the company, systems and support

so.... having reported a fault on 29th Aug
Initial installer visit 21st Sep simply checked connections!
Second installer visit 5th Oct took many hours (mostly waiting for GE responses/call back)
GE engineer visit 11th Nov cancelled on the day (not even told)

GE engineer visit booked for 22nd Nov.
On the day had 2 emails - one saying engineer would be with me. Other one telling me no visit set as they awaited information from installer. Frankly shocking internal comms & organisation at GE

In reality engineer came on day as arranged and swiftly changed the board in the battery - which was always expected to be the issue. Engineer was excellent. But very disappointed with almost 3 months delay to repair

Who came out, was it Martin?

Did you send a photo of a box of Yorkshire tea and a pack of premium biscuits (perhaps even a tin?) when you first booked the engineer appointment? 😁

Have to say he was excellent - seemed knowledgeable. In reality simple task because the diagnosis was correct and needed easy board change

TX200 ahh! that was my mistake! ☹️
