Intelligent Octopus during night and solar during the day - battery charge

I am on intelligent Octopus for EV and home battery charging. I use manual settings for charging batteries on my Givenergy app to charge my batteries and EV overnight, but during the day the batteries will not top up on solar because the settings say do not charge until 2300hrs

Anyone got around the need to manually change the inverter setttings every morning and evening to make this work seamlessly (ie charge batteries from grid overnight, then use excess solar during day to top them back up, then fill up again off peak)

Go to Inverter page and select settings. Select ECO and enable and submit.
select timed charge and set days and times that you want to top up and submit.
Also you need to set the battery % you want the battery to be at the end of the charging period. I do that on a daily basis depending on the next day's WX forecast and state of charge existing in the late evening.

If you have an EV and want to charge it, set that up at the same time.

Sorry that is for Octopus Go, but it should also work for Intelligent Octopus if you set the times right. The main thing is that you need to select ECO Grid & Solar active at all times for the battery to charge from solar.

There's been a number of threads all with similar queries recently.
Put the inverter in ECO (use the portal, not the app!) then set a Timed Charge for the IO period (23:30 to 05:30) and set the SoC % that you want to exit the off-peak period at.

I'm on IO and thats what I do. The only thing that you have to watch for is if the IO app schedules a charging period outside the "normal" times and the car starts charging in those times. In that case then the house battery will be used to meet some of the car charging load. This is less of an issue if the charging starts before the normal 23:30 off peak as the Timed Charge setting will still charge the battery to the required SoC%. If, however, the car charging period runs on after the normal off-peak time ends you may find that the battery gets dumped into the car leaving you with a reduced amount for daytime use.
To get round this you can manually change the Timed Charge period to match the IO times. Be sure to change it back though otherwise you might find the battery charging in peak times.

Personally I find that the 6 hour off-peak "standard" times are plenty to charge my Model 3 without needing to go outside these times.

Yes it has been connected. It finally stopped showing offline last night and I updated my settings as described using the portal. However again today it was not charging on solar. I had to remove the time zone for timed charge to make the battery charge from solar
