Is there a minimum load that the inverter detects and discharges to? ( same applies to solar charging?) if so is it hard coded or configurable?

Smk82 I think you're asking if there is a minimum house load that has to be drawn before the inverter sees it and responds with energy from battery or PV. If so, the answer is "not really". Looking at the inverter logs for my dual HY5 system, overnight there are values less than ±10W logged. I've found the inverters to be very responsive to changes in load. However, the response is quick but not instantaneous, taking 15-30 seconds to ramp up to feed a 3kW kettle demand. The instantaneous load is drawn from grid while the inverters ramp up and then export to grid while the inverters ramp down. My smart meter logs about 0.5kWh/day import which is the affect of our fridges and freezers cutting in and out while we are away for a few days. When we are home, boiling kettles and using the oven (iron is worst), it rises to 0.6-1kWh/day.

The threshold at which the PV can be used is in the inverter data sheet for your inverter. It's about 120-140V for mine but obviously, that depends on your PV panel strings. Once the minimum threshold has been reached, any energy available can be used for house load or battery charge, however small.
