We finally got around to getting our Eddi's installed and today I've been tinkering away just making sure things are working as they should. I've got my Eddi set to maintain a 100w threshold and also wait 10s before acting on any export with the idea being that the Eddi can react nearly instantly while the AC3 cannot and takes a few seconds to start sucking down the juice that is otherwise feeding to the grid. The 100w threshold should also allow the battery to take a bit of it and ramp the eddi down if it still got there first.

I've also installed a CT around the live feed heading to the inverter so that the Eddi can monitor whether the inverter is charging or discharging in order to prevent the Eddi from running at the same time as the battery is discharging.

Anyone done anything differently at all?

I've got a 3.6 inverter and an Eddi.

I've finally set my Eddi to only start taking the juice once the exporting is above 400KWh and I have set a delay of 7 secs.

I was doing a lot of tweaking over the weekend.

I found there was a lot of "twoing and frowing" between the battery and the Eddi when the solar generation was low (between 0 - 400 Kwh) and the Eddi was set to come in below 400. The battery would kick in too early and then the consumption would go up and stop feeding the battery, then after a while would return to normal, but having first taken juice from the grid.

I found having it set at 5 secs meant it was too quick and confused the inverter and with10secs it was too slow.

I wanted it to charge the batteries first, then the Eddi and finally export to the grid.

And with my current Eddi settings it seems to do exactly that quite nicely.

Where is it you change these settings? Is this through the app or on the device itself?

The MyEnergi forum usually suggests setting (on the Eddi itself) an export margin of 100W and a time delay of 30 seconds to play nicely with a hybrid battery system. There are other options with an AC-coupled battery inverter that rely on an additional generation CT being wired to the Eddi/Zappi system.

This is on the basis that the battery takes priority for charging, and only once the battery is full (or approaching full) will the Eddi be triggered by the measured grid export for the 30 seconds period.

The GE inverters do not have any user adjustable parameters for the response time to changes in the grid import/export, hence the settings have to be made on the solar diverter (Eddi).
