On historical graphs, no option for "Total Consumption Today"

On the graphs (when enlarged), you can obviously choose which elements to display.

This includes "PV Generation Energy Today", "Grid Import Energy Today", "Grid Export Energy Today" and "AC Charge Energy Today". These are all cumulative lines, so that if you hover over the final graph point you can see what the total solar generated or grid imported etc was for any historical day you choose.

But in terms of "Consumption", we appear to have "Load Power" (which is obviously an up-and-down graph depending on the load from the home at any particular time) but no "Total Consumption Today" which would be very helpful in mapping what we use and when.

Yes, I could get this information from the IHD for our smart meter, I assume, if I remembered to check it before going to bed each night (and that still wouldn't be an "at the end of the day figure"); also, our IHD has actually been broken since late April (five months now) with no resolution in sight from Octopus. (The smart meter still works, just not the in-home display.)

Am I missing the option somewhere? If not, is it possible for someone at GivEnergy to add it please?

I note that the graph at the bottom of the 'Legacy Dashboard' lists daily consumption, although a little concerned that the figures for today (for example) for both PV Power Generation and Total Consumption for Today do not agree with those on the main new dashboard!! (Also, I assume that the Legacy Dashboard will be removed at some point.)

Thanks.

The IHD would only give your grid import as it knows nothing of your PV system although you can access your 30 minute, 1 hour, daily, weekly and monthly historical import electronically (and gas usage and PV export, depending on your type of meter). Some energy suppliers present this data to your via their portal (don't know about Octopus), but you can also access the data for the last 13 months by signing up to the Bright App (iOS and Google Play).

If you're not really interested in historical import, but in your actual consumption then try out the reports. The weekly reports look really interesting except some of my data is just not right. It just doesn't add up and so it is of limited use for me. Whether this is because we have two inverters or what I have no idea. However, it might work well enough for you.

Whilst it is not using the GE system, if you want to know and have a history of your consumption direct from your smart meter you could use the Bright app (hildebrand technologies) which gives graphs of consumption by cost and KWh down to a 30 min, daily, weekly and monthly period as costs or KWh. It's not instant as it comes from your meter but is good for tracking usage.

Dpe No it isn't, unless you buy their dongle, in which case, it's every 6 seconds or so. This option is also useful to access the near real-time value using MQTT. This feature does involve the data being sent to the Bright cloud from where you subscribe to your dongle topic.

Tim "The IHD would only give your grid import as it knows nothing of your PV system"

Yes, I just meant that I might be able to get the "Total Consumption Today" from my IHD as that is the actual missing piece of information that I'm currently searching for. I don't need the IHD to give me Grid Import/Export/PV power really, as the GivEnergy dashboard gives me those.

Although now I think about it, the IHD probably wouldn't know about Total Consumption because it would just deal in Grid Import rather than total power usage (my brain confused itself by knowing that it used to give me a Total Consumption figure before I had a PV system, but that is of course because Total Consumption used to be exactly the same as Grid Import).

Not that it would have helped anyway in my current situation even if it did give me the total consumption, because (as previously mentioned) my IHD doesn't work anyway (and hasn't since late April, thanks Octopus).

Given that the GivEnergy dashboard is measuring Load Power on a 5-minute basis, it would seem trivial for them to "do the Math" and simply add an extra possible field to the graph that has everything else on. I'll add it as a feature request.
