Re-calibration total capacity drop

My 8.2kw battery is only a couple of months old and full capacity was 189.1 since todays firmware update and re-calibration full cap has dropped to 185.1. 5 ah drop in just a couple of months. At that rate I will be down to the 160 ah needed for the full 8.2kw in another 12 months. Does that sound right? Normal? Was 10c outside during the calibration, could the cold affect it?

If this is normal then fine, but I would like to check with others.

THALL Mine's a few months old and only showing 178ah now. I think I'd be better off just not looking!

judgepd Hmm, my first battery showed 195.9, the second unit is a warranty replacement.

THALL I can't remember what mine was off the top of my head but I seem to remember it being above 185ah.

My system is almost 8 months old, and currently reporting 186.11 (this is 'Full CAP' in the 'BAT Cell' section of the old portal - I assume that's where you're seeing this - is it in the beta portal somewhere too?) I think it was the same before the last recalibration, though I didn't record it. I was planning to do a f/w update tonight, but now I'm feeling a bit nervous about it - think I'll wait a bit!

THALL Winter "losses", perhaps? The BMS may well report lower capacity at lower temp.

THALL The firmware update includes a change to the default inverter upper voltage limit. The upper limit has been dropped from 59.5V to 58.5V . Could it be that this has reduced the amount of charge the battery has taken (as opposed to could take) during recalibration and thus lowered the reported full capacity?

Should always be based on nominal voltage sticker of the pack which on the 8.2 is 51.2V (in my case x160AH design cap cells = 8192Wh/8.2kWh)

Mines an old (BA serial) which has done 4.8MWh throughput:
currently sat at 151.82Ah (so 7.77kWh)

Possibly unrelated note: I did a recalibration not long ago and thought it a good idea to set the EV charger off to use it. I think this was a bad idea as I ended up with 148Ah after, ran again with very little house load and let it export and got the above.

I have no idea what conditions would affect it. I am just checking if a 5wh drop is normal after a couple of months usage. It will be interesting to see how long it stays over the 160ah design cap.

I have 189.45 Ah after yesterdays calibration (installed in July). The battery temperature was around 30-40 degrees during this time (I had 75% to dump first) so it may be reading slightly higher.

I am planning on making the battery last as long as it possibly can, charging at 2kw rate instead of 3kw and only charging to 90-95% (i know they already indent this but the lowering will help.

hamilton I did recently consider charging slower and less but the battery already has overhead for more charge so didn't bother. The slower charging.... maybe.

THALL during the calibration it was pulling 3KW, I just have the 5 hour window with GoFaster so dropping down to 2KW will always fill the battery even when completely flat.

I think the fact it dumped the full battery was probably the reason for the high reading of capacity (warm batteries hold slightly more charge)

Ran the update (including recalibration) last night.


Full CAP before: 186.66Ah Full CAP after: 182.22Ah

New BG series battery, last recalibrated when commissioned two weeks ago; minimal throughput since.
Battery temperature peaked at 39 degrees during charging.
