When will this available? I got battery hanging but no cable to connect to inverter.
I m sure if you sold X no of battery you produce X no of cable so battery can be used .
This is just not acceptable you need to stop selling 9.5 kwh battery untill you have enough cable.
Neatly 3 k hanging on wall and doing nothing
THANKS to givenergy inefficiency
I wonder why I choose this product
Ring terminal
Why did your supplier install the battery and charge you for it if they didn't have the cable to connect it?
Next time, pay when the installation is complete...
I haven't paid him fully
But it's annoying to see battery hanging n not doing anything
He can't get cables from suppliers as they don't have it.
I think givenergy got it all wrong by not supply cable same time as battery.
Can’t you modify one of the available cables?
I meant it’s just copper wire pair with connectors on each end.
If one end is a ring connector, then buy a cable with the correct connectors at one end, cut the others off and crimp/solder and insulate rings onto the other end.
I fail to understand why givenergy cant put a gen2 to gen2 cable in every 9.5 battery box ? its not going to break the bank is it ????and if you need a gen2 to gen 1 you just cut the plug off one end ! simple isnt it but givernergy had better ideas and gave us nothing at all .. I am waiting now eight weeks for SIX gen2 to gen 1 cables and I have batterys just sitting there doing nothing . THANKS A BUNCH GIVENERGY I DONT KNOW WHY I PURCHASED YOUR EQUIPEMENT. But be sure I wont be doing this again .
kram Read the post you cant get the cables for love or money they are rarer than chickens teeth
If it's any consolation to anyone, I ordered my 3.6Mk1 Hybrid, solar panels and 8.2kWh battery in early October last year. Solar panels and inverter were installed in mid January, battery arrived in late June.
Eight weeks isn't the end of the world...
mrand31 I ordered 3x9.5kwh gen2 early june grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr they are a joke .
It's nearly impossible to get connector
Does any one knows which connector to use on 9.5 kwh battery?
Givenergy won't tell.
We all need to go on trustpilot and give them honest reviews
This is joke if they put x amount of battery in market why they didn't put same amount of cable?
When u challenge them they will blame installer and wholesalers but in reality they to blame for sort supply.
Why installer not going to buy 80 quid worth cable when he already spend money buying battery and other stuff?
If any 1 got plz help
mrand31 I ordered that setup in October ish was all installed last December.
I have no idea ablout cable ad don't have 1
It has crossed my mind that cables, batteries and inverters don't neccessarily get shipped in the same containers from the same factories, could easily be a ship carrying cables somewhere on the high seas or waiting to be loaded.
That's true but they shouldn't sell it separately until they have full kit this is so frustrating.
Probably more of an installer issue - after all, you are paying them, not Givenergy. If the installer didn't have all the parts needed to install and commission a working system, they shouldn't have started! And any competent sparky should be able to make up connectors surely?
I agree but he is under pressure as I m on his case it's nearly 11 months since I paid deposit and now all done apart from this cable
Any sparky here can make this cable?
mrand31 a ship carrying cables somewhere on the high seas
There are probably several ships. I have no knowledge of the specific logistics, but I would imagine batteries and inverters are shipped FCL (full container load) whilst cables go in a shared container. By my quick estimation a 40ft container would hold 560 inverters (7 high by 4 wide by 20 deep). The batteries, inverters, and cables are all made in China, and likely made at different factories. Assuming the inverter factory makes 10 inverters a day, it would take 56 days before a full container load is ready for shipping. However FCL has the advantage of being quicker as it goes direct to port then direct to UK. Assuming the cable factory makes 10 cables a day, they might be put into boxes of 10 and then shipped weekly (as a batch of 70 cables). These would go to a warehouse and be put in a container marked "stuff for Europe" with other unrelated products. Once full, the container gets shipped to Rotterdam. At Rotterdam, it's opened and split for different countries and the cables go into another container for the UK.
The logistics are complex and there are currently supply chain issues affecting everything from cars to plastic garden sheds! Maybe it's time to buy less from China and make more in the UK.
Make sense
Afroz yes any sparky or even a dog can make the cables . But I defy you to get the plugs required as you just wont find them

The plugs aren't impossible to find, it's just not practical as the installer then takes ownership of warranty not GE when it's up and running (and GE get an easy out for any defects that should arise)
They are very similar if not the same ones used on Fox ESS LV5200 batteries (without the BMS pins connected & maybe a different keyway, hard to tell) or from Alibaba Here
(Note: you take this route and F your battery/inverter your on your own, dont come comaining to me)
Do you have pictures of the connectors and measurements .
I know there are some Asian standard connectors that I see day to day that are unheard of in Europe/US.
Edit:
The more I see about GE, the less I like them. Using their wires or no warranty, but you can’t get their wires 🙄

kram theres several of them on the facebook groups with the part numbers on.
Im at work right now so if you dont feel like digging around on there then im sure someone else will post them on here at somepoint.
Whe they finally move to the rounded corner Gen 2 inverters they will only have the "special" connector on them so the intention would be for all batteries and inverters to just have the one connector rather than the mish mash of rings/crimps and plugs.
Surely GE would be better supplying plugs for custom cables as well as cables or using something standard like ring connectors.
It feels a lot like apple where the kit can be good but you know you’re going to have to buy into the eco-system.

The whole point of this new cable is to stop installers who (for some reason) find it difficult to crimp a cable without making an arse of it and hence caused GE a world of pain tracking weird faults on the DC side
- as was the way with all Gen 1 Inverters and all the current batteries 2.6 > 8.2 which still just use red & black cable and some off the shelf crimps.
It's only the 9.5 currently that needs it - the idea was that the cable would arrive pre-tested and is plug and play. They also removed the need for a separate DC breaker as it's now built into the battery itself (which again installers just didn't seem to be able to terminate properly - causing more issues)
The theory is sound, the execution/supply not so much.
If you go back to supplying "bits" then your again at the mercy of installers abilities, plus they would need a specific crimper for these plugs for their round pins.
If you don't care about warranty - An idea nobody seems to have brought up - the socket on the battery is just that - a socket. There would be nothing stopping you taking it off, fitting a gland and wiring direct into the batteries DC MCB terminals) Internals can be seen here
Fair enough, I do get that, but at the same time this seems to have turned into a logistical nightmare.
Finally cable arrived and battery working now.
Thanks everyone for there inputs.
Also how do I charge my battery on cheaper rate at Octopus energy?
Also can I choose which day I want to charge and how much.
Thanks in advance
Afroz and your cables are FROM ??
Installer manage to get it from suppliers
UPDATE ON MY CABLES
After waiting for months and months for these stupid cables I finally got SIX cables that should have been gen2 to gen1 ...well guess what these idiot people sent me six gen 2 to gen 2 !!!!. so what could I do other than cut the bloody plug off one end and terminate as usual with ring terminals properly crimped ....THANKS SEGEN YOU BUNCH OF NUMPTIES
