I've seen lots of discussion around Zappi discharging the Givenergy battery. I already have a Wallbox charger, a GE HY3.6 inverter & 8.2 kWh battery. I'm looking to upgrade my charger by retro-fitting a single-phase power meter in order to enable Wallbox's Eco-smart functionality which in theory should enable me to divert excess solar to my EV. However I've noticed buried deep in Wallbox's installation instructions a disclaimer that "Eco-smart might discharge your Battery Energy Storage System" which I clearly want to avoid. I assume this is a similar problem to Zappi, but does anyone have experience of circumventing this problem with Wallbox ? Thanks

Glenbertram I don't have the experience you are asking for. However, the Zappi can be set up (Eco+ and 100%MGL) to balance it's demand to what would otherwise be exported to grid from PV. If there is a setting in the Wallbox's Eco-smart functionality that ensures there is always a small grid export (say 50-100W), then that should be enough to prevent Givenergy battery discharge as the inverter won't export to grid from battery in ECO mode.
There will be issues about timing though: when your kettle switches off, there will be a grid export until the inverter ramps down, so the Eco-smart needs to see grid export greater than say 100W for more than say 20 seconds before it starts to charge the EV. The minimum that an EV charger can operate at is 1.4kW, so in practice, you need to be exporting 1.4kW before charging starts, and exporting the 50W continuously for charging to continue.
I've attempted to achieve something similar using home automation and contactors for some external sockets used by family and their plug-in hybrid using a granny charger. The home automation uses Givtcp to monitor export reported by the inverters and switches the sockets on if export has been in excess of 2kW for 60 seconds. If export falls below 0W for 60 seconds, the sockets are switched off. I use the same hardware to control them during off-peak periods.
