Two Solar PV Systems with one on FIT one No-Export?

I have a 4kWp PV system from 2011 with a good FIT that I naturally wish to retain.

I am considering installing a 9.2 kWh Givenergy battery with either a Giv-AC 3.0 or a Giv-HY 5.0 Gen 2 inverter.

If I go for the hybrid inverter I could, in the future, (when electricity prices rise again) add another (say) 6kWp solar array and possibly another battery. I have the room on my roof or in my field.

Does anybody have such a system? Are there technical or regulatory problems?

ZenSlo the hybrid inverter isn't designed to reduce export from an existing PV system - a pity because a lot of us would like to do the same. The simplest option is to add the AC3 and battery, then add another AC-coupled inverter later for the new array.

Steve - I think you are saying that the hybrid inverter will not absorb excess power from the house if the existing solar (FIT) system generates more than is being used? That makes sense to me, my question is - can the hybrid inverter be installed for now with batteries on, but no solar, so that it can fill the batteries from overnight grid power, and in the future have the array added, when panels are more plentiful?

chrissmith yes you can fit a hybrid without PV. You can divert surplus PV from your FIT to the hybrid-connected battery but it would be a DIY home automation solution. Feasible but you’d have to do the solution yourself using Home Assistant or some other tool.
