Battery SoC sudden jumped from 40% to 100%

As per the title, my 9.5kWh Gen 2 battery SoC suddenly jumped from 40% to 100% this AM.

It was flat (4%) this monring and started to charge at a steady rate at 9am (in line with my winter East facing PV output) when it jumped from 40% to 100% at 11:30.

This clearly isnt right! I've never achieved more than 60% SoC any day this month (my first October with a PV) as my PV output peak has dropped to 2kWh. Mathematically, it's not possible for it to be fully charge in 2 1/2 hours with the current winter light conditions especially as i'd only generated 5.5kWh, and imported 2kWh from the grid.
Despite the reboot, the battery is still reporting as being full, so the inverter is exporting my precious winter sun production... 🙁

I've restarted the inverted remotely in the cloud website.

Any thoughts?
Could this be related to the firmware SoC drop to 0% problem? My battery is on 3008.
I've had the system for 2 1/2 months and its been rock solid (i spend un unhealthy amount of time monitoring its output and logging data in Home Assistant!)

Could someone at GE have a look please?

These batteries like to be fully charge quite often to help keep the SOC prediction software accurate. LFP batteries are renowned for this unfortunately.

As above is your issue.
You could possibly force it's hand and run a full discharge via the app quick settings buttons (it would then hit true 0% at some point, realise it's all gone a bit wrong and reset itself (for a while))
Although with a 9.5 battery I doubt you'd have enough time today to get it down to 0 and charge it back up before the sun went away. May be one for another day.
Interesting that the Gen 2 inverters are also affected. Not sure that anyone's mentioned that before. (If they weren't so big and heavy it would be interesting to switch batteries with a known "good" / non impacted one and see if the problem moves with it (which would suggest battery is at fault) or the problem stays with the inverter (which suggests inverter &/or operating conditions cause it)

EdinH - i sense i have the same issue, but my system is mis reporting in the opposite direction.

Thinking about it, this problem has only popped up after my first protracted period of not topping up the battery completely on a day, and i assume that the algorithm that reports 'user visible' SOC vs the actual SOC of the battery (deliberately larger capacity than reported) has drifted.

Intertestingly, watching my spurious '100%' charge decline overnight, it did decrease at a rate consistent with it acutally having 9.5kWh in the tank at the start, and was down to a reasonable 26% this AM. I was expecting it to suddenly plummet from 60%-> 0%. It makes me suspicous that the estimation of SoC had drifted far off!

I will report this to GE, and will await any firmware updates to correct this.

In the meantime, i may have to peridoically force a full charge (from the grid) to take my battery to 100% on a regualr interval until the sun comes back in the spring...

3.7 PV with microinverters, 3kW gen 1 AC and 8.2kW 100% DOD, FW3007, portal. Installed June 22.
The SOC algorithrm drifts each day resulting in an increasing loss of battery capacity. The false SOC value would result in overcharging and therefore battery damage if the BMS did not monitor actual battery voltage. My system corrects the SOC to 100% SOC when the battery voltage reaches a value greater than 56.5V. The battery then goes idle and the. battery voltage drops back to around 55V.
My system rarely does a reset at the lower voltage limit which I think is around 48.5V. The system stops at a false SOC of 5% even when the voltage is around 52V which represents 30% charged. The battery goes idle and the false SOC drops 1% every 3 hours down to 0% when it recharges from the mains even though the battery voltage is unchanged.
I am happy that the battery is being protected but the battery is not delivering 8.2kW and recharging when not necessary. The problem will be worse during the winter with less PV so less frequent 100% resets and larger battery capacity loss.
I guess this is happening to lots of systems. New Firmware can't come soon enough.

I have had a GE 5kw GEN2 Inverter and 9.5kwh config on order for months now and installer keeps telling me its delayed by the wholesaler. I keep reading on this forum about owners experiencing these wandering SOC problems and there appears to be poor communication from GE on the matter. Some claim they have been waiting for months. I must say this is spooking me and I am getting cold feet about continuing along this path with GE and maybe I should change supplier before i get into the same trap. I emailed GE directly for a comment on this matter to a prospective buyer but so far they declined to comment. I guess they have already acknowledged the problem and are trying to fix with a new firmware release so what else can they say, but it does seem to have been going on too long now.
