
I have been monitoring the displayed 100% SOC battery voltage each day since installing 3007 on 27/6/22. This voltage has been slowly declining (as it did pre 3007) and so I decided to run a test today (by emptying the battery to the grid) to see what the real SOC was. The battery discharged down to 33% then suffered the dreaded sudden drop to 0%.
So in a month I have lost 33% of the battery capacity (the battery was actually only 67% full when it was displaying 100% SOC).
The fact that the battery discharged to 0% and ignored the 4% cut off and 4% reserve settings implies that the erroneous SOC reading is believed by the control software. Discharge was only halted when the low battery voltage limit was reached. (As an aside, if this is the case then I wonder how the upcoming inverter software update is going to fix the "ignoring cut off and reserve limits" problem that it is rumoured to?)
If control software is going to use the displayed battery SOC reading then this has to be accurate and not allowed to drift over time. The SOC needs to have the 4% and 100% end points recalibrated each time these values are reached, which suggests using measured voltages rather than long term tracking of cumulative input/output. Tracking input/output is really only suitable for displaying an estimate of the SOC when it is between the end points and it is not long since a lower(4%) and/or upper(100%) calibration took place.
