Hello everyone. I’m Mark and the person selling the GE smart plugs. You can get me at
mark @ makse dot co dot uk
Cheers
Mark

They maybe available to buy, i just received 4 of them.
At the moment the intended reason to purchase was so i could set up schedule times for the plugs to come on and go off. Sadly the scheduling is NOT available to program in the app. It says its currently under development!!!
Seems like GivEnergy have jumped the gun with an unfinished product!!
When will this be completed??

it gets worse, just set one up, and it doesn't record any data either!!
Seen the "known issues" post in the portal and have now deleted and reconnected the device 4 times and it still isn't recording any data.
THEY DON'T WORK!!
The only thing you can do at the moment is switch them on and off from your phone!!
GivEnergy support - please fix these issues... soon!!
Otherwise they are being sent back as not fit for purpose!
Mine should arrive this week. Hopefully it will be ok.I will post a reply to how mine works.
How much are people paying, per plug, if you don't mind me asking?
Mine was a tenner

Finally got some data out, but not sure its complete. Data does register, but dont expect it immediately.
Really need the scheduling ability.
Its not in the GivEnergy app, but is in the smart life app.

TheDragon (GivEnergy) I dont have Alexa or the app.
So I have added it into my smart life app as i already had this installed for some older plugs. It works fine in the smart life app and i can see all usage data and also can now schedule on/off times.
Can the smart plug be set to turn on only when generating excess electricity or is it just set as a timed schedule?

Okay, thanks for the reply
I'm having problems connecting the smart plug to by BT Whole Home network - it's the system that uses discs to extend the network, as we have a long bungalow. The GivEnergy kit is also connected to this network and I understand it has a 2.4GHz facility. The plugs seem to run on 2.4GHz (I realise I've probably not worded that correctly)
I have been able to connect three smart plugs to the BT SmartHub router wi-fi network, which just about reaches to where I want to place the plugs. However I was hoping to use another smart plug in the greenhouse as the BT WholeHome wi-fi reaches there, just.
But I simply cannot get it to connect. I've even tried connecting it right next to the main BT WholeHome base but no joy. I've looked on my BT hub manager but can't see any settings to tweek - and I am wary of changing anything that might mean it's no longer accessible to other devices
Anybody got any suggestions?

positor1 @sbatley BT Smarthub doesn't have a limit other than the number of IP addresses it can allocate in IP V4 (DHCP range is usually 1-250), so you'd have to have over 200 devices active to run out of addresses. It sounds like the smart plug is set up in access point mode? If you look at wifi networks on your mobile and power on the smart plug, does a new access point appear? If you also look at the IP addresses on your BT smarthub (Home - My Network - 2.4GHz devices), you will see all the devices, and their IP address, connected via the 2.4GHz network there.
Just installed 4 smart plugs, 3 worked first time, 1 wouldn't set up initially but now does not record data. Faulty unit?
Also are the plugs only supported on the app, cannot see them on the cloud from my PC.

MartinB119 Cloud access is coming soon. As well as HomeAassistant Integration

£13 isn't a good price for plugs that dont work properly!!
Between poor connection setups and app down/not recording data these plugs are very poor!

Where do you buy these plugs?

The eBay listing above is mine as well as on Facebook group.
MartinB119 did you get your dodgy plug working? I have one that worked first time, and another that I’ve set up twice but is still not recording data reliably.
In case it helps anyone...
I ordered two smart plugs. One worked first time. The second one seemed to have issues syncing whether it was on or off with the app... the app could control it, but the icon in the app never changed. I set that one up again and that problem was resolved, so I plugged it into some Christmas lights to test. Seemed to work initially, reporting 3W, so I left it a while. When I checked later it was reading 0W, and the graph in the app showed it had been jumping intermittently between 0W and 3W.
Next day I set it up again, and plugged it in to a lamp by my desk so I could monitor it. Reported 5W continuously. After a few hours of that I turned the light down to half brightness, and the smart plug reported 0W. Turned it up again, and it reported 5W.
So my conclusion is that the smart plugs struggle to detect power accurately below about 4W, which, to be fair, is fine. Both plugs therefore seem to be working well for me.
