could i fit different wattage panels to each string. each string should obviously have all matching panels. I ask this because my installers insist each and every panel on inverter must be matching. Surely each string is completely independent. Im confidant they are trying to baffle me with bull shit.

G-dog I would concur that as long as all the panels on a string are the same, then having different panels on different strings shouldn't matter. If they are all on the same roof, there may be a question of aesthetics if they obviously look different, but that's another matter.
Yeah on different roofs. Want All black (lower performance) panels to one side and high performance to other side. Obviously he wants to just buy one pallet all the same
