I am a new customer as of yesterday. We have an existing solar array from about 7 years ago and yesterday we got a new array on the garage roof complete with a 9.5 battery.
All is working fine, the commissioning has been done and the battery is filling up when the sun appears between the rain clouds. I am currently charging the battery ready for the Octopus Saving Session.
But... the data in the app and on the cloud portal are rubbish. As soon as the battery charges from the mains or discharges to the house it thinks the solar panels are generating a similar amount to the charge/discharge.
For instance now it says 3.1kw generation (probably 300w on each array), 3.4kw consuming (maybe 1kw), 2.8kw charging (probably correct) and 3.3kw importing (currently nearer 4kw).

Are the CT clamps correct? I assume this is a hybrid, so it will have its own solar, aswell as a 2nd EM115 ID2 for the existing solar information. Then the usual EM115 ID1 for grid monitoring.

Do you know if these are on teh right cables?
EM115 ID1 should be on the Live Meter tail, arrow pointing towards the consumer unit
EM115 ID2 should be on the Live cable from your existing inverter, arrow pointing towards the consumer unit

Not saying that there isn't something wrong but your battery will need to Cycle completely ie. fully charge, then fully discharge before anything will be correct.

By default you will probably find that the settings are not set to ECO in the inverter options.

In ECO Mode your system will first use Solar to power your house load --> then any extra will go into your battery first --> then if battery is full then will export to the grid.
The settings below ECO can be used to OVERRIDE specific parts of the ECO settings:
If you have a Time Of Use Tariff such as one offered by Octopus then you should set this up under Timed Charge.
This will ensure that your batteries use the ECO settings but will not import from the grid into the battery until the time period you have set.
Effectively Timed Charge can be set just for a minute and will prevent your system from importing from the grid to charge the battery EXCEPT during this time.
So even if you don't have a Time of Use tariff if you set the start time to 00:01 and end time to 00:02 then you system will no longer import from the grid to charge your battery.


If you have a "Time of Use Tariff" you would set this up here to as explained.

As an example we got on the Go tariff in August which is 7.5p off peak (00:30-04:30). Charging our battery overnight saved us £83 13/10 to 12/11 just by itself (3 adults at home throughout day).

magician2905 Thank you for the reply. Yes I put it on Eco, and am already with Octopus but no a fixed price tariff for the time being. Am hoping it will fix itself in time but I am getting doubtful now.

All fixed, There was a CT clamp attached to the wrong lead in a new consumer unit.

I've just had a new system FINALLY commissioned on Friday with 2 x 9.5kw batteries and an AC coupled inverter along side a new 4kw solar array on my house roof and an existing 3.5kw array on my garage roof, all the readings on the GivEnergy portal were very odd when I compared then to figures I already had with other energy monitoring equipment I have setup, I did mention to the installer but he insisted everything was correct. After 24 hours the data still seemed wrong but the batteries had fully charged from the grid. But on Saturday morning my system started EXPORTING my stored battery power back to the grid (so I turned my batteries of sharpish!!). I investigated over the weekend and found that 2 of my 3 EM115 meters (ID1 & ID2) were the wrong way round. I've since swapped then over and all appears to be working OK but I'm now thinking that the whole commissioning process should now be carried out again and the batteries recalibrated
