I placed an order with my supplier in mid July and I still haven't got an install date yet. I keep being told that it should be soon as the stock is arriving but each time there is a delay because of the GivEnergy inverter/battery availability. Does anyone know what's going on with this? Apparently some people are switching their systems to other manufacturers so they can get commissioned sooner. I'm wondering it enough people do this it will ease up the demand meaning I'll get my system sooner. Although I'm starting to wonder if I should switch to another system if we can't get ours some time in Q1 2023.
Anyone know about the availability of new inverters/batteries?
So Ive just managed to get ordered a 9.5 battery to add to my current system, and theyve advised a couple week lead time. Not sure if thats because they had a scheduled job cancel though.
I've been trying to get one reasonably priced since June, and just got one set at 4.5k installed which seemed ok

My installer placed the order for 5 kW Gen2 and 1 x 9.5 kWh battery back in June 2022. They have the battery but not the inverter, so I have had the panels installed along with an interim 3.6 kW inverter (not battery compatible) which should see me through the Winter. I also have a MyEnergi Eddi to soak up any potential export in to the hot water immersion heater. Not that there have been many good generation days in November/December so far, only 12/11 and 25/11 gave me more than 5 kWh.
Both ITS and MidSummer wholesalers are reporting 10th Feb 2023 for availability of the 5 kW Gen2, and my installer reported late Jan 2023, so am in for a long wait.
I have been looking at alternatives but my options are limited by the IP65 requirement for outside installation. The Solax hybrid plus TP30 batteries appears to have more availability, but would be around £1500 more than my current order for similar capacity.
Would the Solax inverter work with Givenergy batteries or would I have to replace the whole lot?
Must say it costs a little more, but looks like it's got quite a few advantages?
Had my installation completed earlier this week. I orginally ordered a 8.2 battery system back in late March.
The installer has had major issues getting both the battery and the inverters/couplers. Orginally I was told it was just a couple of months wait but this wait extended throughout the summer. The wholesaler had apperently cancelled all the preorders it had agreed to supply and when stock then arrived in the summer they had greatly inflated their prices and sold then to installers ready to pay a 'premium' price.
My installer was able to get a commitment to supply the new 9.5 batteries but only of he paid upfront - even before they were in stock rather than paying 'on account'. So a hefty overdraft was required........
During the installation he told me that at the moment batteries are much more easily available but that the real issue is the lack of availability of Inverters/couplers.
alphabeta77 no GE batteries use a proprietary cables etc, so you would have to replace everything.
My installer has been waiting on another 8.x since Feburary.

alphabeta77 , as @dragon2905 has said, GE batteries need to be matched with GE inverters, and as far as I can tell Solax batteries and inverters need to be matched together.
There are some inverters from differing manufacturers that can be matched with a common Pylontech battery set, but the batteries are not IP65 for outdoor use so do not suit my installation requirements.
