I've just noticed I do not have access to my dongle.
My app is using the cloud link and is notifiyng me I have no local connection to my inverter.

Trying to connect direct to my dongle and it is just hanging.
The password is correct and I've changed nothing.

I think it may have frozen. Does anyone know how to reset it manually?

Unscrew it and re-seat it?

I've reset my router too

The dongles are notoriously temperamental.

If it is still sending data updates to the GE cloud then it is probably fine, but just struggling to connect to your App or local computer (people have been struggling with this, depending on which update version of the App they have).

If it is not talking to the GE cloud then you could try taking it out an then putting it back in, but they can sometimes take a while to re-establish contact, so you may need to be patient.

If it is still talking to the GE cloud, you could also try the inverter reset function, from the GE portal, which might also kick it into action?

Why GE can't sell a dongle (with all the preloaded info) with a LAN port built in it is beyond me

So after palying about, checking this and that, taking my Dongle out and putting in again (sounds like I'm doing the hokey cokey!!) I have now established that the dongle is connected to my router and back to the GE cloud and always was.

So i'm back to where I was with no local access and the App is still showing that I am connected to my local server. However, the dashboard is saying "no it isn't" even though the "Home " button is highlighted. So I am actually connected to the cloud and getting 5 minute updates when the app dashboard doesn't go blank!!

Can't GE just roll back the last update? I was working ok until then.

Stevef1964 my iPhone did exactly that before the latest update. It’s working perfectly when now with the new update.

Tim Mine seems to have gone the other way!! What IOS are you on? I'm on 16.1.2.

Stevef1964 That's the same as mine. I'm guessing it's something related to how your own wifi router/finds devices. I've set static IP addresses for my dongles but would far rather use name resolution than IP addresses and leave them as dynamic. My Givtcp instance uses GivenergyInverterL and GivenergyInverterR (set in the wifi router "My Devices" for DHCP) for my two inverters and that's working fine and reliably. Home Assistant doesn't recognise named devices unless you append .local to the end (eg GivenergyInverterL.local works in HA but not GivenergyInverterL which works elsewhere on the LAN).

It's handy having regular updates in the app, but it was so flaky for so long that I got used to its unreliability and used Givtcp/Node-RED for near-real-time data (no more often than every 20 seconds to give the inverter a chance).
