I've just moved to Octopus Economy 7. The correct rates are showing on my Octopus app and in the Bright app. I did not update any API for these. But in the daily reports, the calculations are still based on 34p/kWh.
Do I have to do anything to get this updated? I thought it would be automatic, like the other apps.
I have been reading that, but I think this is slightly different.
the report shows:
TARIFF
Consumption - You would have spent £1.68 Average cost is 0.34 p/kWh
Import - Your tariff cost £0.09 Average cost 0.34 p/kWh
Export - Your tariff income £0.04 Average income 0.12 p/kWh
Overall - Your estimated cost £0.05 Average cost is 0.01 p/kWh
I don't understand what these 4 numbers are telling me. I assume the 0.34 p/kWh should be £0.34 /kWh, for a start!
0.34 p/kWh is 34 pence per kilowatt hour
the average figure include the daily standing charge so the average cost will vary dependent on how many kilowatts are measured.
"Overall - Your estimated cost £0.05 Average cost is 0.01 p/kWh"
this says you should expect a cost of 5 pence which equates to 0,01p per kwh (which seems incredible low#)
We were away for a couple of days, so only the base load.
But 5p cost is low. How does it match with the Consumption of £1.68?
Import - Export does give Overall
You would have spent £1.68
means the solar power supplied if you had to have bought it would have cost you £1.68 (estimate)
The import is the cost it would be at 34p/kWh, as given by the Bright app.
Still not sure what you mean about the Consumption of £1.68

The import figure is the one that matches my IHD, and the Bright app, for the cost of the electricity used, not the consumption figure. That's why I'm confused. The consumption figure doesn't match with anything I can think of to calculate!

import is what you get from the grid either for use in the home or to charge the battery.
consumption is import plus any other ( solar) consumption.

positor1 thanks. Sorry I'm so dim. I'm trying to combine solar generation savings with Economy 7 savings when Octopus don't don't a breakdown of any figures assist from the 30 minute usage data.
If you look on your tariff card on the portal (web page) you may see that the half hourly charges shown are not your eco 7 rate because most octopus staff do not even know what an api is and seem to dismiss requests to have it corrected. ( api is a number you get from your octopus account and enter into the portal so it knows what your tariff is)
