I currently have a 5 kW Hybrid inverter with a 5.2 kWh battery and am looking at string an additional 8.2 kWh battery into the system. The existing system has DNO approval. Does anyone know if I need to submit another application for the additional battery capacity given I'm not adding any more solar PV or changing the inverter?

JMalcolm Pretty sure you do not need an application for just a battery. It does not affect your output, if you were adding another inverter and battery then yes you would need to let the DNO know.
JMalcolm I don't believe you do either, However, thinking to a time when you might want to sell your property, it wouldn't do any harm to seek advice from you DNO to confirm that adding battery capacity does not need any new application or notification. Whichever they reply (email or letter) you've got the evidence to put with your original DNO agreement for your records. It shouldn't stop you pressing ahead but easier to get the paperwork straight now under current regs than trying to get them to agree to something in the future when regs change.
I have DNO related stuff from my installer and don't think it ever mentions the battery, just G99 for export capacity above 3.6kw and the panels.
If you aren't adjusting the export capacity values and you have a valid G98 or G99 I don't really see it making any difference personally.
Thanks, I didn't think it needed another application but the installer was talking about it. I since queried it and they said they'd made a mistake and the DNO doesn't need to be involved.
