Our router rebooted itself today (for whatever reason) but now the WiFi dongle connected to the inverter is flashing and no data is being returned. How do I begin to rectify, unplug the dongle and plug back in?

Looks like when it rebooted it picked a channel which I don't think the GE dongle liked. Switched channel and now it looks to be connected (solid blue LED).

It needs 2.4ghz and no higher than WPA2 encryption.

THALL Cheers but neither of those things had changed, just the channel (was 1 now 11 - all happy again).

chris_p I don't understand why channel would affect it, most routers now will automatically switch channels to the quietest one it can find. Actually I know the channel should not affect it, it could of just been taking a long while to attach or something else was wrong.

THALL It was two hours since reboot and still hadn't done anything. I have had issues with another device (I forget which) that would not connect when the router was using channel 1. It was the least congested but thankfully there isn't too much WiFi contestation round here.

chris_p That is very strange, I use unifi wifi gear and leave channel's to auto. I could set channels manually but I just leave it to sort itself out.

THALL Yes ours was set to auto but forcing it to change worked. Had issues with the 5G channel this morning. I'm starting to think the router is on it's way out.

chris_p Hopefully that is not the case. But it is weird. But then I also thought their dongle needs 2.4ghz only, which to be fair I think I would recommend anyway given how far these systems could be away from peoples wifi equipment, plus its not really high bandwidth equipment etc.

THALL Is that the same as WPA2PSK, and should the encryption type be AES or TKIP?

RichardMouldRyan The connection guide shows AES, but does not specify. My home 2.4 band is on AES anyway.
