The Unofficial Community Discord

Hi all,

I have setup a community discord server as some of the topics here are almost real-time and constantly refreshing is annoying. I have created a section for beta discussion and also app-feedback which is thread only where hopefully GE can use to look at reported issues in one place rather than many of the same posts on the facebook page(s).

We have about 40 members right now, a couple are Giv staff and hopefully many more to come 🙂

I'm not being funny but why is yet another 'solution' needed. Wouldn't it be better to get the existing issues fixed? For example a properly maintained 'Knowm issues" list that actually contained all the known scheduling issues/shortcomings would be a start.

SilverArt Don't worry too much, you are not imprisoned to join the server.. Its much more real-time than forums and some people would prefer that. The topics also allow people to post steps to reproduce bugs that are exceptionally helpful to a development team.

This is unofficial and not related to Giv fixing or not fixing issues, but as a developer, this kind of approach would be very favorable to me.

I agree, i am concerned that if GE staff feel they have to monitor that site too the overall strain will impact everything else.
not to mention you have to register to use it and having read just the terms and conditions I wont. its another site that hides behind "you own the copyright of your material but we can. use, MODIF etcetc
Luckily I dont have to waste my time reading the privacy policy now.

They reply to messages sent by Raven to their satellite office in Winterfell quite promptly...
If it makes it slightly better the old Teams group appears to be getting ditched so at least that's one less....
Facebooks eleventy million groups however...

The issues can be reported once to GE linked to a thread where they can see a step by step process to reproduce rather than have 75 posts on Facebook.

Much better than teams and whatsapp (which was suggested in beta chat)

SilverArt Well I did try join as I would rather comment from first hand experience but it just seems to want to tell me I'm blocked!!! You never get a second chance to make a first impression I'm afraid.

Robgy Facebook, here, other forums, all depends on who likes what format of comms really.

joshgreenuk Or, perhaps like my nonagenerian father-in-law not on any social media / Discord / this site / etc. They just have a system, setup for them by their installer, probably running in ECO Mode.

Watcher I get the same message. It’s the same as when I tried to join a couple of weeks ago.

Watcher The first time I tried joining a discord forum (not this one) I had similar issues.

I eventually got around it I think by firstly creating a discord account, and then clicking the link to join the forum.

Fixes (in order)

1. Force open in Discord

2. Copy the invite link

3. Paste it directly inside Discord (Add Server → Join)

4. Disable blockers temporarily

5. Settings → Safari → turn off extensions and “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking”

You guys still use discord? I thought it dead already, with soon coming or already arrived - mandatory ID checks, phone number, age verification, massive data leaks... Folk still voluntarily register there? Puzzling.

It’s just a place to help people if they have issues, if/when this community suddenly disappears. we now have over 300. It’s not that bad. I have not added anything in my profile that I am worried about. If there is more data leaks and issues we can investigate another place.
