Forgive me for the post if this is perfectly normal... But today I have seen some bizarre readings and behaviour from the app and the portal.

20 mins ago, the app was telling me that it was online, giving me live data and generating around 820w of power for the house.

At the same time the online portal was telling me that it was generating over 2kwh of power... and sending a lot of that to the grid when the battery was on 7%

So I went into the app and told it to charge the battery...

Suddenly within 10 seconds... the app starts reprting 2.5khw of power and is dumping it all in the battery and I'm importing about 700w from the grid.

The generation continues to climb to over 3.1kw and the battery has been charged up to over 20% already.

So I tested a theory... told the battery to return to normal (charge by solar only)... solar generation being reported in the app fell back to a little more than what the house was using.

This begs the question... is my system only reporting that it's generating enough power to cover the house... and if it's capable of producing that extra... why isn't it, and why isn't it producing the max power it can at all times and charging the battery?

Am I missing something?

Right this second... 2.22kw being produced... turn of forced battery charge... production drops again... turn it on... production rises again.

That just seems totally weird behaviour right?

In order to help you understand this and not misdirect you by guessing, it would help us if you posted an image of your power flows graph from the portal.

One thing to note straight away is that the portal and the app are not aligned. The portal only shows snapshots taken every 10 minutes. The app in local mode will update every 10 seconds. 10 minutes is a long time for an inverter and the portal is almost constantly out of date. Frankly, I only use the portal for the history graphs and totally ignore the now panel.

Post that image and we'll look into your main question.

I was literally sat here yesterday afternoon... stopping and starting the forced battery charge... and I think in hindsight... that there were some co-incidences going on.

The power generation was fluctuating a lot yesterday and the live data to the app was being a bit slow... Several times it appeared that the inverter was offline and I've found that I often need to restart the app before it will refresh live data.... and then when I do, it will sometimes fail to find the inverter (even though the router shows it as connected)

Looking at the historical graph (don't have a screenshot because having to take one, upload it to an image hosting site that supports bb code is a pain and I need to be at my desktop to do it) yesterdays data shows how much it fluctuated, I couldn't see that at the time.

My app often thinks the system is offline.

Generally force closing (android) by shipping the app away on the open apps view sorts it.
