What to expect during a power cut

Had a 2 hour power cut today during which the sun was shining in a clear blue sky.
Why isn't the inverter able to store the electricity generated by the panels into the battery during the power cut?
The front panel of the inverter showed a blue line from the panels, to the house and to the battery but not from the grid. So I assume it was powered from the battery. I was using the EPS to run my local network and my internet router so I had access to the inverter from the mobile app which was showing the power, I presume, being drawn from the EPS both locally and via the Internet if I toggled home and away.
Anyone any ideas if it's possible to charge the battery from the solar panels during a power cut?

phit03 If the EPS is responding to load the inverter cannot charge the battery and discharge at the same time. If your system has a hybrid inverter it SHOULD be able to charge the batteries and supply power to the EPS is solar generation is high enough for both. If you have an AC coupled system then it cannot because the solar inverter must go offline when the grid drops.

I believe you can with the hybrid innverters, but not the AC3 inverters.

phit03 Check your Inverter, battery and PV data for yesterday. If you had a blue line from the panels to the house and to the battery, it sounds like you have a hybrid inverter and it probably was doing what you would expect it to: support EPS load from PV and battery or charge the battery if there was surplus PV.
