I am on Octopus Economy 7 tariff for import since 1st Feb 2023. It is called Flexible Octopus October 22 v1.
It is 47.43p day rate and 18.06p night rate.
This tariff lists correctly on my Octopus portal page and the Octopus R&D labs page.
When I go to the GivEnergy Smart tariff under Todays Rates it shows " Var from 2023-02-01" , so it knows I am on a new tariff, but lists in the columns a flat 33.00p rate 24/7. (this was my old fixed rate tariff)
I have deleted and reimported the API key numerous times but no change.

Has anyone got the Eco7 tariff rates importing correctly to the GivEnergy portal page.

I have spoken to Octopus and emailed them a number of times asking them to check the API key, but after a week still nothing.

long and short- same boat as everyone and octopus do not seem willing to correct it.

Thanks and sorry.
I did look for a similar question before posting but did not find one.
I did manage to find an answer in the end, but hidden in other posts.
Sorry

no problem. co incidently after replying to you i recieved a reply from Octo regarding this, as i replied the person had no idea what an API KEY is and he simply stated my tariff again and stated i was not being charged 33p.... endless circle.
I will keep plugging away in the hope that someone one day will ask someone who knows.!
perhaps if more people raised it it would help.

I had a 40 minute conversation today with someone in the metering team at Octo.
My Eco7 tariff went live 1st Feb.
For the 1st week my manual meter readings showed all the consumption still going to the day rate readings, yet their portal page, their data download and the GivEnergy portal showed I was charging after 00:30 and using next to zero grid for the rest of the time.
I have a GE hybrid, 14 panels and a 9.5 battery plus a basic SolarEdge with 13panels.
I took the Octo portal data download into a spreadsheet and coloured the Eco7 hours yellow and peak hours green. I then auto summed peak and off peak and sent the spreadsheet.
This clearly showed the Eco7 meter was not putting the right readings into the meter in the correct timeslots.
He agreed and then said he must talk to someone in the metering team to correct this.

He was flummoxed with the image below which shows almost all my import is Eco7

SteveCook Steve, I have had exactly the same issue with Octopus, having switched to Economy 7. I have spoken to three people there who all said they would fix the problem - but haven't.

First bill is completely wrong, but subsequent bills are OK.

From what I have read, Octopus does not read the two tariff registers in the meter, but simply uses the 30 minute time slots to determine if each should be billed at the night rate, or day rate. Nothing wrong with that, but they don't seem to be able to get the transition right, from the old tariff to the new tariff.

I think Octopus is now in fire-fighting mode, having inherited so many new customers. It's a shame, as their reputation is quickly being eroded by all of this poor customer service.

Exactly what I had to do, spreadsheet etc
Looks like it is the normal for people moving to eco7 with Octopus.
Then the app data is mis matched.

positor1 api data not app data sorry.

Had exactly this issue. However Octopus fixed it very quickly when I rang them. They can do it if you speak to the right person.

Thanks
Do you have the name and direct number of the "right" person please
Only joking!

You are so lucky, it took weeks and weeks and countless calls to get mine sorted.

I should learn to keep my mouth shut.
something has happened, the GE tariff card is now showing 18p but the expanded info is not yet correct.

I just did not bother. Went down the home assistant path and set up charging automations there.
Regarding the meter reading, my day and night rates were swapped for the opening reading. But octopus has taken monthly smart meter readings ever since and after a bit of email moaning I got my first bill after 6 months.

ToothyChris Octopus does not read the two tariff registers in the meter, but simply uses the 30 minute time slots to determine if each should be billed at the night rate, or day rate. Nothing wrong with that, but they don't seem to be able to get the transition right, from the old tariff to the new tariff.

Today I received a revised bill for the 1st 10 days of Feb. No explanation, just a "reversed account charge" of minus £55.
If they don't use the RT1 and RT2 readings from the meter, but just the half hourly beamed data, then I guess I will not bother to input manual readings anymore to avoid confusion.
I will just data download each month and do a bit of spreadsheet manipulation to check the bill.

SteveCook I submitted my version of your Excel file yesterday, to their Issue Resolution e-mail, plus the CEO (issueresolution@octopus.energy and greg@octopus.energy) - let's see what happens this time.

For the subsequent bills, I simply check that c.95% of the units appear against the night rate and the remaining c.5% against the day rate.

ToothyChris Emails now also sent to same 2 addresses.

last week I checked the readings on my smets 2 meter, the rate 1 had gone up but the rate 2 hadn't changed from the switch date 14th march.
So today I decided to ring octopus had a chat with 'Sara' she said let me have a look came back said my meter isn't compatible with eco7 and said the installation will be in touch. Ok i thought came home checked rate 2 and its increased.
all this after sending pictures of my meter and being told it was ok.
but I'm still on the VAR tariff at flat rate on GE but octo aid has always shown the correct rates.

Here we go again with the change to eco7 resulting in wrong bills.
octopus bill for period 17.10.23 to 5.11.23
day rate 38.0 kWh
cheap rate 28.1 kWh
total 66.1 kWh

smart meter data shows
day rate 9.56 kWh
cheap rate 59.201
total 68.761 kWh

A very odd reply from octopus support who I suspect didn't understand the problem suggesting that if i believe the meter readings to be wrong i should send them pictures of the readings on the meter!

After 4 years I still do not have a reliable signal to make the smart meters work correctly.
After a lot of heated debate with Octo it was agreed in October to switch me back to Eco7 with manual readings by me. That will be OK over winter as unlikely to be much excess solar for export. It also give me 6 months to go to the ombudsman and try and force Arqiva (DCC in the North) to actually do something.

Man came on 7th Sept and fitted new EDMI meter, but still did not work.
On 3rd October Man came and fitted Kaifa meter (still no signal), but Octo said we will remotely set you to Eco7.I said are you sure, because if you can't communicate with the meter, how can you change it. Dont worry they said. 2 weeks later I told them there was still only 1 import register.
Octo then promised to fit a preconfigured Eco7 meter. Man came 3rd November and fitted EDMI meter. After a week I told them only 1 import register was present.
Octo said a man will come 14th Nov and fit preconfigured Eco7 meter.
Man arrived 14th Nov 09:00 and changed meter. I asked if it was preconfigured. He said no, and drove away.
After a few emails another person arrived and fitted a preconfigured Kaifa meter.
This showed 2 import registers but no export. Luckily the man who installed bothered to Kaifa and he called me the next day. Export only shows after 1kWhr has taken place. I did a force export and confirmed this to be the case.

I downloaded from octopus and sorted with excel formulas.

just called them having earlier sent my spreadsheet.
Very intelligent chap called Gareth answered and sorted it out with just one call this year.
The message sent to the meter to change to eco7 failed and was resent 12 days later.
he has corrected the amount overcharged with a goodwill payment.

All good but I wish they had systems in place to prevent errors and notify you if one does occur, it makes recording energy costs more complicated than it needs to be.
