Had a new system installed in September, only just recently got the DNO confirmation and Octopus are onboarding me now. (been with Octopus for import since before system install)
There is about £40 of export on the meter already, I assume that is my loss and and Octopus's gain as they will take a meter read from the day they start my export tarriff?

For most people yes. Very occasionally, they make a mistake and pay all the export.

murrad Octopus recently credited me for all my export before they completed the set up. After checking with them it's to do with balancing, as according to them my export register started in the 600 range when it should have been 0. They have a duty under the Balancing Settlement Code to ensure that all energy is accounted for.

pacemaker SSEN is my DNO, my installers notifed them at the end of september and kept saying varying amounts of time, the highest being 3-5 months. I know someone else who was around 3 months. When i chased my installer, they emailed them and got a reply back the same day, so we think they had processed it and not notified us back.
