So I set these settings up last night on the app to charge to 75% at 1kw between 00:30 and 00:70 for my economy 7.
Three things:
1) This morning when the solar was generating at nearly 5kw it only charged the battery at 1kw and then exported 3kw
2) Overnight it only charged to 60% despite a lull between 06:30 & 07:00 where it should have been charging still (stopped at 58%)? Then woke up and charged again to 60% as if it thought thats what it was aiming for?
3) Log shows I changed AC charge to ON, set the 1kw limit and thats it because 4 days previously id changed charge up to 75% from 60% and it was written successfully (and the setting was retained when switching from charge mode Solar to Solar + Grid)
Whats the best way for this to be investigated? My last ticket (also my first) was just ignored..


Battery Settings Not Working Correctly & Affecting Solar Charge
Your graph shows a steady charge to 58%. This is in line with your settings other then the break. The charge was limited by your charge power setting. It actually charged to 62% ish in the second period. The system would have charged to 75% if the charge power was higher. The target SOC should be ignored for generation in any case..
cluelesscris Thanks im not as worried about not getting to 75% as you said mathematically it may not have been enough time anyway but the gap and more importantly the generation to grid is more an issue for me..
RMM In the last image it doesn't show any generation to gird which would be red above the line.
Agree with Chris. There is a bit of generation to grid in the solar spike. This looks to be inevitable. If you're only permitting 1048W into the battery and the house is using < 1000W, the rest will go to the grid.

Nope. The battery charge power setting applies across the board. Your grid and solar are being limited. If you're desperate to limit grid but not solar you will either need to resort to automation (Home Assistant and other stuff I'm too dumb to understand) or manually tweak it each morning.
If you're trying to get to a set charge (75%?) you might consider charging quickly and setting the AC Charge Upper % Limit to 75.
It seems to limit both grid and solar charge rates. I can’t think of the use case for limiting solar charging, are we missing something?
Ben_Collier it could be used to enable a level of paid-for export throughout the day, although a peak shaving Eco setting might be more helpful.
Ben_Collier We sometimes set a reduced battery charge rate when there's oodles of solar so that the batteries charge slower. It also means that we can start EV charging earlier, giving it more time to charge and because we are still charging the Givenergy battery and EV (or dishwasher/washing machine etc) when the sun is at it's peak, there's less likelihood of clipping (2x6kWp arrays each with HY5 and Batt8.2) as long as we are able to consume or export the full output of 12kW.
