Amalgamating two different systems

Hi my main setup consists of a GivEnergy Gen1 Hybrid inverter with 9 solar panels and a 9.5kWh battery. What i would like to add to that is a Goodwe EM series hybrid inverter with a 9.5kWh pylontech battery, no solar panels connected.
The idea would be to run my main setup (GivEnergy) to charge at night via a low tariff and sunshine during the day, and on the second setup (Goodwe) charge the pylontech battery overnight.

In the evening or cloudy days use the stored energy in the GivEnergy battery, with Goodwe batteries turned off, then switch over to using the Goodwe battery. Or leave both batteries connected and consume the house power as required and let the batteries balance themselves....ideas, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

I suspect you may be talking to a very small group with a Goodwe inverter. I further suspect i might be the only one with both!
So I run a different setup using a Goodwe BP series feeding direct into the Givenergy HOWEVER for control your in luck!

The Goodwe system is very popular everywhere but the UK for some reason - so it's actually natively supported in Home Assistant - 2 clicks and your away kind of thing: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/goodwe/
As you'll have seen on here Givenergy is also available in Home Assistant (although the setup is a bit more fiddly) so you should be able to get them both playing nice together with telling things which times to run/charge and so on.

The only real battle you'll have is stopping cross charging however I'm pretty sure the same scripts used to stop 2x GE inverters doing that can be modified.
(Mine can't physically cross charge as it only works off DC)

Hi thanks for your insight, I've got both GivEnergy and Goodwe into Home Assistant, and can turn on / off the relevant batteries, maybe this will resolve the cross charging issue. (via Node Red). Haven't quite got that far yet, just getting the pylontech batteries charged ready to do a full integration in the next day or so....Good idea about modifying an existing script I'll go searching for it.

How would the Goodwe clamp be installed in such a configuration? Could one clamp feed the data into both units?

Does it void the warranty at all?

If you can find them in stock then yes you could have one per string so 5kW discharge.
You’d need 2 clamps (Goodwe use the Acrel type not the EM115) how they’d work together I’m not sure, I suspect they may fight between themselves but the Givenergy would get priority over all of them.

Warranty I don’t know - I got some funny raised eyebrows asking how it worked from them when they noticed PV at midnight.
I personally went in with warranty is void but to be honest I was half expecting the Givenergy inverter to go pop when I tried this experiment anyway. Although I wasn’t too fussed if I had to do PCB repairs myself either.

For info if anyone is interested I've got my Goodwe with 5* 2.4kWh pylontech batteries all connected. I dont have a dedicated solar string connected to the Goodwe, only the GE at this point in time (future upgrade) and have it connected on the Grid/Load side of the diagram above. Therefore I can charge both the GE and Goodwe devices from octopus go overnight in parallel. Also written routines in Nodered and Home Assistant to allow the GE battery to charge to 94% via solar, then to charge the Pylontech's (via Goodwe) at pre determined rates dependant upon the PV levels. Once both batteries get to 100% then I dump the solar into my Jacuzzi.

The way I'm using the system at the moment is to use the GE battery to power the house throughout the day and night, and use the stored energy in the Goodwe for electrical heating ie oil filled electric radiators and FAR Infrared Heaters. So no gas being used for heating which is a great saving, removed gas oven and replaced with AirFyer oven Combi microwave and Induction hobs, now considering immersion hot water tank which will allow me to come off of Gas completely. Seems to be a no brainer but I'm finding it hard to cut ties with Gas as I've always had combi boilers... we'll see.
This has all been an experiment to see if I could get both systems running without major problems, all has been fine, and I think I can now stop tweaking Nodered as its all working together quite well.

I felt the same so when i fitted my cylinder last year i fitted a diverter valve so i could use the combi hot water or the cylinder hot depending on availability as I had no idea how much spare KWH i would have.
Also felt it would be cheaper to run a bath from the combi rather than let the combi heat 250litre tank. which if i choose it still can.
my system then is a standard Y plan with the combi hot water available too.
