I recently had my installer swap by inverter from a gen 1 to a gen 2 (5kw) this was because at the time of installation there was no gen 1 available. Since the swap the inverter does not operate and the and the error I get from the portal is Electricity Meter Com Fail. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have contacted the installer but it's a 2 week wait before he can visit and could be delayed further if the inverter is at fault and not the installation. Any advice on this fault would be appreciated.

Kashew If the serial number has changed in the portal, just check that the connector from the EM115 at the inverter is fully and firmly inserted, otherwise it's a fault-find from the installer.
Hi - having a similar switch shortly (Gen 1 to Gen 2) - did you resolve this and any other hints / issues? Were you running GivTCP?
The GEN2 uses RJ45 connectors for both BMS and EM115 grid meter coms.
GEN1 has much simpler and bigger screw terminals
The GEN2 inverter is only supplied with a single pre-terminated RJ45 cable, so your installer would of needed to make up a second cable with an RJ45 connector (and swap out the other cable for the supplied pre-teminated cable) or fit RJ45 connectors to existing cables.
RJ45 connectors are insulation displacement type units (pins push through the wire insulation to the copper conductors when crimping) and are designed for CATx cable which has thin solid copper wires.
Most likely the installer has just fitted the RJ45 cables to the existing EM115 grid meter cables which are probably thicker then the CATx cables and they may have had to strip the insulation off to get the RJ45 connector on and this can lead to shorts.
Unfortunately by only supplying a single pre-terminated RJ45 cable with the inverter this requires on-site fitting of tricky connectors (especially as installers will be tempted to just re-terminate un-suitable cables already installed with RJ45 connectors ) hence causing installation failure points.
