1 string / 2 orientations

I’ve currently got 8 south facing panels and 10 west facing both on a shallow pitch roof on outbuildings on separate strings to a hybrid inverter. Because of the shallow pitch the winter performance is not great so I’m looking to extend the south facing string and add 4 vertically mounted panels facing south to make the most of the low sun. Then 12 tigi optimisers will be added - 1 to each of the south facing panels in both orientations.

Has anyone got experience with doing something similar to this? my installer thinks it will work but it would be great to know how you’ve got on before I invest. Thanks in advance

KPP Yes, this will be fine. However, if there is no shading, orientation is NOT relevant here. The 12 panels are all the same direction, receive the same sun. no Tigi needed.
If you were adding the 4 panels to the west string, then 14 tigi needed

There won’t be any shading on the 4 vertical panels but over winter there is a fair degree of shading on the shallow pitch South facers.

KPP Gotya, in that case, you will get better results with Tigo's. But will the extra recover the cost? Only you will know that, maybe the installer can do the simulations for you
