AIO gateway and hybrid/AC3

Will the new gateway for the AIO support only the new AIO or will it support a max of AC3, possibly hybrid and the new AIO batteries?

I would say it will be an AIO only device. The AC3 and hybrids can not deliver enough juice to be whole house backup power.

THALL if you only have one yes, but 2 inverters possibly. Will be interesting to see. Maybe the @TheDragon (GivEnergy) will be able to give us more clarity once he’s inside?

THALL That does depend on the house, arguably even the AIO might not be enough depending on when the power cut occurs. If there are protections in place for it or the Powerwall's gateway to not die just becasue you happen to be cooking, tumble drying and using your electric shower at the same time, it should also work for a Hybrid.

I'd say 99.5% of the time we don't exceed 3kw draw from the grid, so why shouldn't a gateway work.

Well I’m deciding if to drop GE for a modular system.

So if I can go hybrid now, then stick a gateway in with the 9.5 battery on an AC3 + an AUO battery great. If not then I’m essentially stuck at 3.6kW output.

After the fun I have had trying to figure out dual AC3's and the EPS I still think the Gateway will be only for the AIO. I would be shocked if the gateway device has someway to manage multiple AC3's and hybrids together. The AIO has its own unique battery pack too, it doesn't say you can use the givenergy batteries with it.

Happy to be proven wrong. But last week when I spoke to GE support about dual AC3's and the EPS they didn't mention the Gateway device, or to wait for it. I expect the AIO and gateway are totally seperate to the rest of the GE kit.

The management of AC3 an hybrids is being worked. EMS functionality is coming, in what exact disguise I cannot at this moment say. But it is being worked, in with other centralized monitoring and automation features.

HomeAssistant and GivTCP has this nailed to the wall.

One has a triple AC3, tracking within 1% of each other, working beautifully. He has made the yaml public in the facebook GivEnergy GivTCP group

A lot of us are desperate for the EMS device though. It is the last piece of my GivEnergy puzzle and once in with a smidge of good luck I will never have to post a question again. Just leave it all plugged in ticking along and get on with the next project. Garden Landscaping :-)

THALL besides the home back up what the gateway (if it works with AC3) would provide is hopes manner for the solar to work in case of a power cut? (As hybrids have that out of the box). Teslas are AC coupled and the gateway allows that functionality

Smk82 That would also be a nice feature. I realised going down the EPS circuit route that my solar would remain offline. Differences between EPS circuits and full home backup (off grid function). But I expect the Gateway device is is going to cost around £1000? I think the Tesla gateway is a bit more than that? Not looked at the powerwall for a long time.

THALL I briefly looked at them, but when I realised that it was >£12K at the time just for the battery and a years lead time for less storage than I could get by GE (or elsewhere), it was an easy decision there. Besides I think mr musk is rich enough😂. I almost went hybrid to get the solar use during power cuts, but I wanted the decent integration with my Zappi, hence AC. Whilst I have EPS and we have had power cuts in the past, they’ve normally not been longer than a couple of hours so should suffice. Just would be nice to know that the panels would still keep working if required.
